Lactate Threshold – can the watch automatically adjust this value up or down?
-
I have had professional performance tests done and my running zones set.
I switched from Garmin 7 Solar Shapphire to Suunto Vertical and I don’t understand everything yet
Can the watch automatically adjust the lactate threshold if I do workouts to increase this threshold?
I’m asking because Garmin can do this and does a good job of setting new LT thresholds.
Of course, I’m ignoring the issue of calculating Z1 and Z2 zones, because watches don’t do a good job of this—I already know that from experience.

@Adrian.S
You have ZoneSense that suggest you new thresholds based on the last activity
Then YOU decide if you want to update it or not -
@Adrian.S Zones are not set in stone, this is a common fallacy that athletes fall into and the testing centers do not help. At the beginning of a training block your zones will be different than at the end of a block, where you will be more fit.
ZoneSense provides real time effort feed back and IMHO is better to use on a daily basis as opposed to a method to set zones. My Zones on ZS vary widely with my LT varying by 30bpm depending on how hard I am training!
Suunto has Cooper test, Anaerobic and Aerobic tests as Suunto+ apps to assess your zones. -
@Brad_Olwin It would be great if Zone Sense were supported natively and, for example, displayed around the screen in the same way as heart rate zones currently are. Then we could set custom data and use Zone Sense.
-
@Maryn interesting, however, considering user complaints about inaccurate heart rate measurements from the wrist, Suunto needs to improve this feature. Native support was a nice addition, though, as most people train with a chest HR anyway.

@Adrian.S by native, I mean that Zone Sense should become a normal selection field rather than a separate application. In this case, in order for it to be displayed in the same way as heart rate, power or pace zones
