I never had a watch with Gorilla Glass but if that’s the one used in smartphones - I’ll pass. Used glass protecotors and after few days-week my screen got scratches. Now it’s 2 years Vertical with no scratch (0 protectors) on Sapphire Crystal (some more/less visible scratches on titanium bezel). For my lifestyle and work, Sapphire is must have for sports watch. I don’t know it’s true but on Mohs scale Sapphire is 9/10 and Gorilla Glass is 6-7/10. I wear Vertical 24/7 with taking off for shower and cleaning only. Suunto Race S is designed more for running than adventures. I can’t provide that it’s durable for scratches. Probably any protector will be less durable than Race S glass but at least You could easily replace it.

@katec I can’t speak for the Race S, but with my Gorilla Glass Garmins I never had a screen protector and no problems either…

I intensively use my SRs since last july (hiking, moutaineering, climbing, trail ruuning, mtb…)
Not any sractch on screen.
I have never put any protection on any of my suunto’s and won’t.
(It’s an adventure watch, let it live its life fully !

I’ve owned several Suunto watches, both with and without a sapphire crystal. Based on my experience, I recommend buying a screen protector if you don’t want scratches. I wish I had put one on myself. I didn’t even notice in what situation my RS got scratched. It happened during everyday use.

They don’t need caliber, just bring your Watch to any phone accessories store they Will do the job

@katec So far I’ve always bought watch protection and the one I bought for the Suunto race S is by far the best I’ve ever had.
