Status of the training metrics with a hammerhead karoo
-
@BRogers80 nothing has changed regarding integration since the beginning. I record my rides both karoo and watch as a backup (I have polar HR belt, so I can connect multiple devices and also power meter I can connect to both watch and karoo).
so in suunto app I use watch data to maintain my training metrics and karoo is for strava.
it is boring to delete one activity after each ride, but at least I have backup.

May I ask which power meter you are using? Is it a single or a dual powermeter?
I am thinking about buying one in spring, but I read that Suunto Watches can only pair to one powermeter (and also only one side of a dual powermeter).
So it would not make sense to invest in a dual sided one.
Thank you

@dombo
That does not sound good. I have two bikes with powermeters. Suunto only allows pairing only one powermeter.
This is a pity, as it can certainly be solved easily and would help alot.Unfortunately, Garmin is further ahead here. Training metrics and synchronisation between all devices works perfectly for me.
I really don’t understand why a manufacturer like suunto, which explicitly focuses on sports watches, licences training metrics from training peaks and advertises them, can’t find a proper solution.
At least a statement that certain problems are being worked on would be great. As a supposedly new customer, I see posts about functions that are important for athletes, some of which are two years old and have not been answered.that is annoying

@Stoke80 I have single sided crank from stages. but afaik dual sided power meters (at least stages and favero pedals) work in master/slave mode, where data from slave are processed by master and send to device (watch) all together

@BRogers80 and on top of only one power meter paired you are not able to use two separate sensors for speed and cadence. and as cadence is provided by power meter, you might use speed only sensor, but than cadence data provided by PM are ignored.
you can pair new sensor before every ride, but it is booring.
this were reasons I bought karoo, which has issue with elevation (and it would help to use algorithm from suunto), have to be charged before every longer ride and you can forget about all day rides…

@BRogers80 works great! Dual power from Karoo is shown in SA. Haven’t looked for any graphs as I use another app for this.
-
Thank you for your answer. I didn’t know that, but after some short research it seems that most PM work like that.

Hammerhead opened their app store for addons. (https://www.dcrainmaker.com/2025/03/hammerhead-karoo-adds-app-store-a-few-thoughts.html).
Suunto could provide zonesense Datafields on a karoo or use the karoo as external screen.
Both companies have a big change to rival the garmin ecosystem now. -
@BRogers80 The cooperation (probably already concluded) with Hammerhead and the cycling market in general is the most wasted part of the market by Suunto.
Surrendering with virtually no fight.
And that’s where there’s some pretty big money. -
@maszop There is also the added market of many customers who have both a watch and a cycling computer. Myself included.
If Suunto made a cycling computer similar in spec the the Vertical Is buy it!
The Karoo’s battery is too limited for me.
I currently use a Wahoo, and do like the unit, but normally just use my Vertical.

I recently saw a video where Coros shows how data fields from the watch are displayed on the mobile phone. So even if Suunto cannot afford to create a bike computer, they can develop a small rugged screen which you can connect to your watch and see all the different widgets like maps, heart rate, ZoneSense data. This can be a multi-purpose device in situations when you need the data in a different viewing direction like cycling, indoor rowing, strength training and so on.
