Hi, this is my short summary of the first week of using SV.

I am also new to the whole Suunto ecosystem (although I’ve been using Suunto compasses for many years). I came here from Coros Pace 2. The watch is excellent. Initially it felt a bit heavier (or rather, Coros is superbly lightweight), but also feels much sturdier and of higher quality. It looks great. While my wrist is rather slim, the watch doesn’t look oversized. There is a minor discomfort where the metal bottom protrusion is pressed against the pisiform bone.
After one week and 9 different activities (running, cycling, strength and stretching), the battery is at 79%. Screen readability is excellent, I’m a little shortsighted and large screen, optimum reslution and good brightness helps a lot.
I use Runalyze for my training statistics, so the mobile app is mostly to get data from the watch to my account, but my initial experience is that it needs polishing.
However, I like A LOT that the app doesn’t call Chinese servers constantly (as the Coros app does), my phone firewall has so much less work to do 🤓

I give the watch 5 of 5 and the app 4 of 5, hoping it gets better over time. Well done, Suunto. You have gained another long-term user here.

@ElectronBadger welcome to Suunto. I have had the Vertical for 18 months. I think it is a superb watch.

        Enjoy.

Thank you! I plan trying Zonesense - if I understood correctly, HR belt is required?

@ElectronBadger yes, but not optical, armbands do not work.

@ElectronBadger great choice! - I can highly recommend Suunto‘s Training Lecture Series Videos! They are really helpful to get into Suunto’s system of Training and Recovery.

@ChrisA Thank you, I’m already at EP4. I’m not a novice runner, but I find a lot of good stuff there.

I still love the watch, get used to its weight and find the size perfect. Here are my additional observations:

                          1. Suunto should make a nylon velcro straps, they are better for fitting the watch more precisely. The silicon strap is nice, but it’s not breathable and precise fitting might be problematic.
                          2. Compared with Coros Pace 2, SV is MUCH better in terms of GPS-based pace measurement. Not only it’s more accurate for the whole run, but also (and it was one of the main problems with Pace 2 for me), SV is much more responsive to changes in pace. 5/5 here.
                          3. Compared with Coros Pace 2, SV wakes on wrist rise much faster and more reliably. Again, 5/5 here.
                          4. I’ve been using SV for almost 2 weeks and made 33 trainings within that period (running, weight lifting and stretching). This evening my battery is on 47%. 5/5.

@ElectronBadger Today, 3 weeks after I started using my SV, I had to recharge the battery for the first time, BUT only because in order to install the new firmware the battery had to be at 20% and mine was at 18% 😁

@ElectronBadger I’m also still impressed with the accuracy of GPS-based pace measurement. It’s superb.
