      Hello !

I am rather interested in this watch. The only point that holds me back from buying it is the management of the battery modes.
I know that on the vertical, it is possible to reduce the performance but to display the mapping. Which does not seem to be possible on the Race S (at least in the various tests when it was released)

Being available on the vertical I wanted to know if this had been added by an update on the Race s.

      Good day to all!

@kabigon Race S has maps disabled for all battery modes except “Power”.
There is no custom battery mode.

This is a big advantage Vertical has for me.

@kabigon The reason for this is that mapping will reduce the lifetime of other battery modes rather drastically. Suunto wants to be accurate with battery predictions so no maps. I would like a custom battery mode as well but not likely to happen.

            Thanks for the answers

            The “Power” Mode

            • a “Eco” Mode (mapping with only GPS)
              Would be perfection.

Otherwise what is the point of an outdoor watch with mapping and a good battery if the two cannot be combined?

@kabigon The battery is good!! 30h with dual band GPS and Maps is far better than any other AMOLED watch the same size and weight. To get better battery you have to sacrifice something…
As I said before changing touch or screen time off will not affect battery much so the 40h battery life will disappear if you set maps on. I suspect on Tour mode you would drastically reduce battery life as well. It may be that with maps on GPS is sampled more often as well. Simply more complicated than just switching maps on.

You still get a breadcrumb track and Climb Guidance with the other battery modes, just not a map in the background.

@Brad_Olwin You get 40h on Race S without maps in Performance Mode? 31h is my maximum with dual band.
Or do you mean 40h if you switch to endurance and sacrifice the maps option then

Correct, Endurance with no maps but you still get breadcrumb track climb guidance etc.
