Altitude calibration
-
Hello,
have SV TiSol.
As unsual altitute reading went off real value (-150m) after 3 days = I living in 345 and watch show reading aroun 200±. I know this happend due to barometric pressure changes which can be represented as altitude changes, thats why watch has manual calibration or automatic. Bot works as expected, not problem after calibration.
But I need to do it manually when I fell my altitute is off from real value.
I read and also Suunto told me, that during workout with GPS enabled, altitude calibrate itself, which make sense and it’s worked when using S9P. But for Vertical not… as I said I had 150m offset, then do some cycling, longer, shorter, and calibration not happend.
So simply questions:- do I need enable something? Guess No
- Must workout with GPS (which should calibrate sensor) some specific profile - Like >1h duration or have atleast 100m vertical difference - to enable calibration?
My SV are 2mo old. And I would like to say not, or did not recognize, But I have no issue befor update.
Of course I will give another try, I’m just asking if there is anything what can I do.

@Jiri-Kroutil I never calibrate my watch and let the FusedAlti do its work. However, you can leave the watch outside under an open sky and select AutoCalibrate for altitude and you will get the correct altitude, details in the manual.

@Brad_Olwin I know this Autocalibration. I expecting this calibration will happend during workout with GPS as it works on S9P, but it looks like not happend on my SV.
-
Also my altitude was off during workout - gravel ride. So FusedAlti bug or so, I cannot find settings for fusedalti on my watch.
-
@Jiri-Kroutil it is happening after 10-15 minutes of your excerise . at least that is what i have observed

Also after manual altitude calibration, it also change measure barometric pressure, which should not as far as I understood this technology.
-
@Jiri-Kroutil That is why I suggested auto-calibrate. When you manually change the altitude, the altitude is likely off due to changes in the barometer. If I adjust altitude I use auto adjust.
Settings/Alti Baro/Auto adjust altitude. -
@Brad_Olwin as I remember, when I do automatic calibration last time it also changed barometric pressure value.
I think, if u use manual pro automatic, it is only pair watch altitude( manual value or automatic from GPS) to watch barometric pressure sensor value, this compensate natural changes of pressure. It is one time action And it should not change barometric pressure value reading by sensor.
I’will give watch another Chance, but have bad feeling that something Is not ok. -
@Jiri-Kroutil My Solar Ti is working fine on this firmware. No altitude issues. However, I live at ~1600 m and between work and home is ~200 m change. My runs typically have 300m or more elevation gain and SkiMo closer to 1000m where I am usually at 3500-4000m. When my altitude at home or work is incorrect I really don’t care. What matters to me is elevation gain/loss while working out. When I do an exercise at home or work FusedAlti corrects to the right altitude but we have very strong weather and that can change in a day or less. Absolute altitude at home or work just isn’t that important to me.
