Sleep tracking and HR 247

Re: Sleep tracking and HR
Hello,
In the last update this duality sleep tracking / HR just got to another level. Instead of being able to turn HR only during the hours of sleep tracking (like an activity) we now can’t disable HR without disabling sleep tracking also. I don’t want to track my HR 24/7, not because the battery usage, but just don’t want to have it all day and keep looking at those readings.
I think these 24/7 HR is more for “smartwatches” not Sportwatches as Suunto Vertical is .
Suunto, can you please provide the options to have HR auto turn on during sleep tracking hours instead of overcomplicate things with these mandatory connection between these two features?
Thank you
Happy Christmas dayCheers

@plopes73 Just hide the HR widget on the watch. You won’t see 24/7 HR. I only keep this on to monitor min HR while training. Battery usage is negligible.

@plopes73 +1. I’d like to see the option as well. I’m not too concerned with the battery impact, but more that I just don’t like having that green light flashing all day. I wear my watch pretty loose when not training and often find it distracting. As with you and @Brad_Olwin, I only use the OHR for the sleep data.
-
@duffman19 exactly, I also use the watch a bit loose during day, so some measures are not accurate for sure. @Brad_Olwin to hide the widget doesn’t seem to be a good option, still have the readings in the app.
The best solution would be to allow sleep tracking, if active, turn the HR on during the defined sleep hours.Cheers

That is not correct for iOS anyway. Daily HR readings are only in a widget that you do not have to display. The Recovery tab does not show HR nor does the Activity Tab. You have to select a sleep time to see daily HR, which is what you want anyway. The firmware calculates resources from daily HR. You are asking for likely massive changes in programming. It is simpler for you to ignore the HR or simply turn it off.

@Brad_Olwin I didn’t realise such changes were needed. I can turn it of as I always did since day 1 with vertical (2 years now) , just saying that Suunto just complicated that action to turn off the HR, making mandatory to turn off sleep tracking also. When turning on HR before going to sleep I have to turn on HR turn on sleep tracking, define the start and ending time for sleep tracking, check that I don’t want blood oxygen . This was easier in latest fw . Can’t understand why Suunto changed this. Of course I can revert to previous FW but I like all thr current one changes, except this HR<>sleep tracking hard bond . I was just exposing an idea, don’t know how all the system is implemented and such massive changes are needed. Since my Suunto 9 Baro that I’m wishing to have HR active start and end time.
Thanks for your reply.

@plopes73 I think they did this to incorporate Recovery status into training. I think there will be changes coming to the coach function. I would imagine that all manufacturers that want to stay alive will have to offer some sort of AI. The more data for AI the better. I do not have any information, this is my best guess as a consumer.

@Brad_Olwin yes, I guess they all going through that path. Still Suunto is my favorite, this HR thing is not a big issue but I’m also guessing that all things you’ve pointed will be the near future in all sportwatches.
Thanks again for your replies.
