Counting steps while swimming

Hello all,
I purchased Suunto Race S two weeks ago. I’ve done several pool swims and a couple hikes. Already twice the Suunto has recorded steps while I am swimming. the only pattern I notice is that both times it has happened a day after I record a hike.
Any advice on how to fix this? Thank you -
