How many activities until it's recognised within heatmaps
-
Only a question for fun:
A friend and I asked ourself, how many activities do you need to appear within heatmaps? If someone runs down a street three times and only he runs there, is that enough to create a thin yellow line? Or is it necessary that more people run there? -
@marcrie no, not enough.
Basically any point can glow on the heatmap only when there are multiple unique sportsmen recorded workouts crossing this point.
I won’t disclose how many unique people it should be, it depends. -
To add another question. I have never made my activities where I ride/run/walk from my home public as I like my home location being private and especially don’t want it highlighted on heat maps. Based on the reply above I would be happy making my activities public and helping contribute to the heat map data since there isn’t enough Suunto activities in my neighborhood to pinpoint my home on heat maps, but I would like privacy for a certain amount of distance from my home so that someone cannot pinpoint my home by opening one of my activities (Strava has had this for years). Is this something Suunto has thought of implementing?
