Weather
-
I have had my SVTi Solar for about a year, and it has (so far) behaved impeccably. I have been fortunate / lucky not to have been noticably affected by some of the other software gremlins (such as battery drain etc) as others.
For the last few days, however, I have been unable to get the weather to sync, although it has been working previously. When I first noticed it saying ‘please sync the watch to get weather’, i closely watched the syncing where it appeared to sync the weather, but still nothing appeared on the watch. I did a soft reset of the watch, and all seemed OK again…
However for the last 2 days I have been unable to get the weather, despite a soft reset of the watch. It also failed to update the GPS file, although it said that had synced - that might be a red herring, as that ‘appears’ to be working now.
I have logged out and back in to the App and soft reset the watch, still no joy.
Any ideas?

@Swaddy61 permissions change on the app?
-
@isazi I certainly hadn’t thought of that, especially as I hadn’t changed any…
However, location is allowed, what else is needed?
-
@isazi And bizarrely, although I changed nothing (but only looked at permissions), it has now synced the weather again… Straaange…
-
@Swaddy61 not sure, but Android limits permission of apps that are not used. Maybe related, not sure.
-
Well again, that is an interesting possibility, but I use the App every day.
I’ll keep a watch on it, and come back again if it stops syncing again, but in the meantime thank you @isazi for your thoughts / help.

Sadly, weather not syncing again today. I tried checking the permissions again (as that was all I did yesterday), then re-syncing, but still no go.
Odd. Any other suggestions?

Now we are on day 3 with no weather updating. Is anyone else having this issue?
I suppose the next step might be to uninstall the app, but I was hoping to avoid that. It says it is syncing weather when it does a watch sync ( and sits on that for about 10 seconds before moving to the next item).
I have no idea what has changed, or why, as I haven’t changed anything myself and there have been no Suunto updates or Android updates.
All ideas considered!

@Swaddy61 Is “precise location” or “improved location accuracy” enabled?
I had the same behavior on my new phone. After changing that setting everything started to work again -
@surfboomerang Which shoud it be? Precise, or improved, or should it be neither?
-
@Swaddy61 I think it’s implemented differently on every phone brand.
On my phone it is implemented under settings ->location ->location accuracy -
@surfboomerang So yes, I needed to set location accuray to on. I’m sure I didn’t change anything, so maybe one of the updates (either google or Suunto) changed the way this was needed. Either way, yes, weather now syncing. Thanks!
