WaterRower S4 + Suunto?
-
Anyone here who use a Waterrower? I ordered a S4 + SmartRow and like to connect it with my watch and save it to the app. Possible?
Also: How does rowing-mode in the watch work?
It is getting darker in Sweden (need something to do…)

@JonasLarsson I own a WaterRower with a SmartRow. You cannot pair the latter to the watch.
My setup usually is the following:
-
SmartRow broadcasting via smartphone’s bluetooth to tablet running EXR.
-
Polar H10 paired to Race and SmartRow
I use the training plans and the FTP ramp test from EXR to set the zones as intervals.icu suggests.
Export of FIT files from EXR and import to intervals.icu is possible.
In Suunto App I adjust the TSS manually because I use TssP not TssP. But if the zones are set correctly, MET is fairly close.

I usually setup pirowflow with my waterrower
https://github.com/inonoob/pirowflo
Works with garmin and coros watch but not Suunto (maybe one day)
I record my activity manually and correct the distance after using the info from the rower
I know it is not the expected answer but pirowflow is an amazing tool that I love make discover

@borgelkranz Thanks!
I am thinking if anything changes if I use a/the Bluetooth module instead? If I don’t focusing on getting data from the SmartRow.
Do you think I can get som basic data from the Waterrower display that way, only using the bluetooth module? I have a Polar H10 paired with my Vertical but am interested in getting more data than heat rate from the machine/rowing.
Hope you understand.

@Josaiplu Thanks! This sounds high tech. Need to read more about it.

Honestly, I can’t tell. All I know is that the watch tracks the stroke rate as cadence via the acceleration sensor and estimates the distance as well. In my experience both differ from what SmartRow measures.
If I remember correctly, I was deeply disappointed of the accuracy of the S4 monitor and deliberately decided not to buy the com module but the SmartRow instead.
Hope that helps

@borgelkranz That helps, thanks!

@JonasLarsson the solution would be a Suunto Plus app, similar to Stryd for running, Train.Red for muscle oxygen, or Engo for smart glasses. Worth asking SmartRow support if they’re aware of it, at least.

You are on to something. Emailed SmartRow. Thanks!
