Tips and tricks for tags
-
I recently switched to Suunto and initially thought it didn’t have gear tracking. However, I discovered that the tagging feature is much more powerful. I was wondering if anyone had tips or best practices?

Use for gear tracking – You can edit the activity and add a tag for the gear you’re using. Then, when viewing activities, you can filter by that tag.
Q: I was thinking of naming the tags like “AltraRace24” for my current shoes, and when I get a new pair next year, I’ll track them with “AltraRace25.” But will the tag list become too long and how do others manage this? Is there a way to archive or retire tags? -
Create a tag for ‘race’ – I want to easily see all the races I’ve done in a year by using a “Race” tag. However, I ran into an issue where it also pulls in my shoe tag “AltraRace24.” Is there a way to change this, or should I just make sure to use unique tags like “RaceDay”? (related question can i delete my previous tag “Race”?). I noticed a similar issue with auto tagging, where filtering by “aerobic” also includes “anaerobic.”

Auto tagging – There seems to be some auto tagging happening. Is there a list of what these automatic tags are?
What other creative uses for tags are there?

@mando and you have summarized the tag features very well.
Currently there is no way to delete or rename tags. Especially bad if you introduced typos. Has been requested quite often.
For tagging races, I recommend to introduce a separate tag that does not overlap with others as you found.
Autotagging is in place currently for commutes (if enabled), and the cardiovascular type of the workout (aerobic, anaerobic, VO2max)
