Accent color red is actually orange?
-
Why is there no actual red color in Suunto race as an accent color? I mean it’s listed there, but in reality, it’s more like orange than red.
See attached pictures:

@Prenj I think none of the other users here can answer on the reasoning behind different color options…

@Egika
Well we both know that from time to time some suunto employees do answer some questions.My question is not about color options, but the actual representation of the colors. It might be a bug. As you can see, in the options, the red is actually red (well at least more red than on the watch face), but the watchface is actually orange. I’m genuinely interested in knowing if that is a bug or some display burn-in protection or something…
-
@Prenj if I take a picture of both (color selection and actual watch face) with fixed white balance, the two colors are the same on my watch. You can try the same and then compare with a color picker.
So: no bug in my Race S TI
-
@Egika that is really strange. On your watch it looks the same indeed.
I just took the photos with fixed white balance, iso and shutter speed but it’s still different.
Is there a difference between titanium and regular Race in this regard? Or is it some settings or bug?
-
@Egika now I see that you own Race S. Your watch has gorilla glass instead of sapphire. So maybe someone with regular Race could check this…
-
@Prenj the color cannot really change between the different screens. If a pixel is told to be red, it is glowing red. Regardless of protective glass.
If you see a difference in color between setting and watch face, have you tried, selecting
a) a totally different color (green, actual orange)?
b) a different watch face with red color? -
I’ll ask for this
-
@Egika
Yes. I tried different watch faces. It’s always the same. Orange is just a different tone of orange, just slightly different from the orange you get when selecting red.@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos thank you, I even recorded the video. See how the red is listed in the list of colors, but as soon as I select it, after the message “done” it’s no longer the same color.

@Prenj Thanks for highlighting!
I like the strong intense red in preview of the color selection, but also get only a faded brick red on watchface when selected.
For me it looks like an issue in assigned color codes.Thanks Dimitrios for forwarding!

@Reiner probably fixed on next update already
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos Thanks. It’s a minor bug, but I really missed the real red color on the watch face.
