ZoneSense S+ Drain vs Solar Charging
-
@stromdiddily No, I do not. I have not done a long run but a 2h run with ZoneSense the estimated battery was 112h (lots of sunshine).

Thanks for the response.
Here is my solar activity, race starting at 5am Saturday but picked up hardly anything
Wore sun sleeves during the day but the watch was exposed the entire time.

@stromdiddily
Did you try a soft reset ?
that graph doesnāt always really refresh by itself -

that graph doesnāt always really refresh by itselfThe graph is pretty indicative of solar picked up based on 50% battery loss in 26 hours. But Iāll try a reset

So something within my activity settings smashed my battery life

@stromdiddily Suunto has been and is investigating potential battery drain issues. I think most of that was fixed in the last release. However, I have two Vertical watches, one running Fieldtest firmware and one production (that I purchased myself). Prior to the update I was having battery drain on my production vertical and I am still comparing to ensure that my battery drain issues were fixed.

Oh interesting, Iāve been following those threads but thought it was specific to post activity drain.
Thanks for the update @Brad_Olwin !

@stromdiddily I had 20h ultra over weekend, ZoneSense S+ and loaded route for navigation. Watch used roughly 33% during that time. 10h zero sun (night), 5h sun/shade and last 5h almost entirely on sun, shining from left, my watch is also on left hand.

60 hour estimated lifeā¦ZoneSense and Route navigation are not a good combination it appears

@Likarnik I have not tested a long run with production firmware on the Vertical. My longest will only be 3-6h but I will try this upcoming weekend. On field-test firmware I have used both ZoneSense and a route with good battery life results.

@stromdiddily My experience - with the Race S - was that the maps need a lot of additional battery power. Did you use them or just the route?

Really only pulled it up if there were questions about intersections, didnāt happen that often.
Was on the ZS screen for the vast majority of the run but I do also have a distance to next waypoint field configured on a screen I used a bit. Maybe that also sucks some additional power?
-
@stromdiddily I have used ZS with a Route on field test firmware and had excellent battery on the Vertical. No issues that I could see. I hope that this is solved but as I said, I will test again. I used the maps occasionally but had the vertical on the ZS screen most of the time.

I cannot imagine that the distance to next waypoint field (which I have as well) consumes much battery: the watch has to obtain the GPS position anyway, computing the distance between waypoint and current position canāt be that expensive. Just my feeling, I might miss some nasty detail ā¦

Look forward to your results. Hopefully this is part of the greater ābattery issueā or whatever
