I can’t find any info on when climb guidance triggers and/or notifies you. Anyone know at what % and/or duration a climb/descent is considered guidance-worthy and notification-worthy?

@far-blue I finally got the chance to test the Climb Guidance feature since I don’t have any hills where I live.

To me it seems completely random when notifications are triggered. I did a couple of hikes and runs and sometimes I felt a vibration, but nothing was shown on the screen. Most of the time however I didn’t receive any notification when a new climb section started.

If there are some thresholds then it would be nice if it was mentioned in the user manual.

@surfboomerang it notifies you when climb notification is enabled in the settings. And if the climb is of the red category.
Also there is a clear climb notification screen with detailed information.
Other vibrations might have different reasons. like active S+ features.

            @Egika yes, notifications are enabled.
So only red climbs should be notified? Unrelated to the activity type?If I remember correctly, I also got a green descent notification as well once.

I will see if I can test some more in the upcoming days

@surfboomerang you are right. the red climbs and the green descents. that are the steeper ones. orange climbs and turquoise descents have no notification.

Is there a way to deactivate the screen for climb guidance, too?
I deactivated the notification but as soon as I navigate on a route the screen is there and cannot be deactivated.
I have to toggle through map and climb screen in order to pause the activity since upper and lower button are w/o any function on those two screens.
I personally only need the guidance when trail running but not on the road.
                Am I missing something?

@lessthanmore no, you are not missing anything. As long as you are following a route, the screen is there.
The idea to switch it on or off has been communicated to Suunto already

@Egika I did another trailrun this morning and paid some more attention to the notifications. You were right about only the red and green categories trigger notifications.
In the mean time I also figured out what the other buzzes were. Those are the pre-warnings about the climb or descend that will happen in 100m. Because my watch was on the map screen I didn’t see those warnings. Those are only shown on the altitude profile screen.

@Egika Do you know if there was an update or when it has been introduced (I couldn’t find anything within the change logs)?
I was recently running with the map screen active and was pleasantly surprised as I was able to simply pause the run with the upper button.
                      Kudos for this!
