Former Suunto fan (Baro 9), now Coros Vertix 2 user, pondering about Suunto Race and Vertical. Question for the forum!
-
Hi peeps,
I’ve been a fan of Suunto since I saw their first watch on a friend’s wrist. Yet, the lack of topo maps made me switch to Coros (plus battery life, updates, etc.).
What would be the main reasons you would consider switching a Vertix 2 for a Suunto Race or Vertical?
Thanks in advance.

@Agustin-Gonzalez-Perez-Corral first question: what is your usage?
I’d personally always prefer the Suuntos for their design.

@Egika Hi. Thanks for chipping in. Ultras, mainly, in hills and mountains.

Honestly, other than the design, I have no idea.

I have not used Coros, +1 vote for the design of Suunto. But I can also say the no frills approach to data analysis with Suunto is elegant. You get all the data, and you can use the in APP overviews to keep an eye on trends. But you dont get bogged down in detail. You can always use 3rd party services for in depth analysis.

apart from design, Suunto Race has a much higher resolution display and is a lot thinner and somewhat lighter.

@Agustin-Gonzalez-Perez-Corral
Hello,
I had a Coros Vertix 2. I went back to Suunto to take a Suunto Race.
I appreciate the quality of the screen, the autonomy, the application, the mapping and the simplicity. It is also very light.
I used the Race on the TDS (156km) in 33H. I had 45% left by activating all the options

GPS accuracy
Battery life (when using dual band gps)
Altimeter (always had to correct d+ with my vertical 2s and same with the apex 2 pro)
Built quality
Look
AppCoros is strong however in support, bringing new features but their position of king of battery life is due to some settings (single band gps by default ohr only every 10m etc) and I found my race way better than my past coros
Made also switch my wife from pace 3 to race s and she love it

I was dealing with this a lot, I’ve had the Apex Pro, Enduro 2, Polar… I always come back to Suunto. It’s just different and I’ve always found that other watches don’t work for me somehow, I just follow th feel and for everything else Suunto is just the best. It’s an endless spiral, I’ve experienced it. Just get out there and enjoy the spirit of the mountains and nature.

@JVMT74 Kudos. That is an impressive finish time for TDS (assuming you are an amateur).
