Navigation off by default
-
I’m trying to find out if there’s a way to set Navigation to OFF by default instead of Breadcrumb for Running. Apologies if this has already been asked, but I couldn’t find any related information.

@obhikkhu known bug introduced two firmwares before. Still not fixed. The watch used to remember navigation settings for each workout prior.

@Łukasz-Szmigiel aren’t we at the stage of “design choice” as opposed to bug:

@Łukasz-Szmigiel, a custom sport mode with the option to completely disable navigation would be ideal for my daily endurance training. But it’s not a big issue—I can always turn it off when I don’t need it. Right now, I’m more concerned about the battery drain. When starting an activity with ZoneSense, you have to go through the navigation screen to access the ZoneSense display, which trigger the battery drain. Once the battery fix is released, I won’t worry about the navigation setting anymore.
-
@The_77 I don’t know if that’s official or just a speculation.
Also, we’re not arguing about defaults. Defaults are fine. But forcing me to disable it each time I start my workout is maddening. I believe that most workouts simply don’t need any navigation at all and breadcrumbs are useless if you’re doing a regular run around the area where you live.
Or, perhaps, it’s tied to the map. Because new models have map by default on breadcrumbs, so older also default to breadcrumbs.
But still - this is an extra screen I either have to cycle or remember to disable each time.

@Łukasz-Szmigiel I agree. It is upsetting.

@Łukasz-Szmigiel oh not disagreeing, it’s rather annoying. I just remembered seeing this about it in the context of the last update.
-
@iterumtenta It might be different for the Vertical but with my Race S the battery drain bug is triggered by routed navigation, not breadcrumb. So switching past the map is annoying (extra screen to cycle through) but not a battery issue. I personally suspect the drain is to do with the climb stuff which is only activated with routed navigation.
Not that I disagree with the request to have each activity profile remember the navigation on/off status. I’ve requested it myself in a previous topic

Agreed also. Every single time, I have to go and set it to off, it’s really annoying. I don’t want that extra screen, especially a breadcrumb for 90% of my runs which are around the house.
