Poor Battery Life While Training
-
My Suunto Race S battery consistently and drastically underperforms the advertised 30 hours. This is most noticeable during hiking/trekking activities which, naturally, run much longer.
After using the watch for eight weeks and 10 or so long hikes, I typically see usage that would project 15 hours of life. For example, a 10 hour hike using 70% of the battery, a 12 hour hike using 85%, and many 6 hour hikes that consume around 40%.
For the activity profile, I use raise to wake (i.e., screen not always on), performance GPS, wrist HR (although it is rather inaccurate while hiking for me…) and have stopped using Suunto apps (though this has not changed the battery performance noticeably).
Is this an issue with the software? My settings? A bad battery in the watch? Or simply unrealistic marketing claims?

@Robert-Pantalone Several of us have seen similar in the Vertical watches and Suunto has been made aware.
https://forum.suunto.com/topic/8879/battery-drain/494Sounds like there are a couple of reasons of the higher than normal battery usage and a hotfix is planned to address it.

@Todd-Danielczyk Thanks for the info. Hopefully the hotfix resolves it for all models!
