Resulution problems with digital clock pointers
-
Since the latest update the pointers in my watchface (simplicity analog) as well as the pointers in the “hover-mode” look really pixely.
Sadly it does not look like this smooth white line anymore. -
@Malte-S I have exactly opposite opinion. The analog faces look much smoother now.
-
I have provided extra images to show the problem.
Looking at the orange pointer you can see the bad resulution based on the position.
While the pointer is crystal clear in picture 4 (quater past) you will notice an infuriating difference comparing it to images 1,2,3 and 5.
Comparing Image 1 and 2 you can even notice a change in width of the pointer.@TitaniumDave can you confirm, that this does not happen on your Race S?

@Malte-S
There is no way to eliminate jagged borders on diagonal lines in digital images
Based on pixel density and resolution it could be more or less visible, but it can’t be avoided.antialiasing Is a way to mask it, but on very thin line it’s not viable, and anyway it will blur the line a little
If you search the internet you’ll find discussions about it

@sartoric Thanks for the answer.
The recent update on the watchfaces made it a lot worse though. Especially because of the high pixel density of the Race S this has to be a bug. I have been using this clock and a similar watchface since release and it never botherd me - until now.
-
@Malte-S I’m with you on this, there’s a noticeable difference that I’ve seen.

because of the high pixel density of the Race S this has to be a bug.As said the issue cannot be avoided, only masked and 1 pixel line cannot be antialiased
I have been using this clock and a similar watchface
This is the key. Have you ever used this very one to say it looks worse ?
This could be a bug if the same wf was looking better previously, but the fact that the line is jagged doesn’t necessary mean it’s a bug.
Maybe the wf is not optimized for race s, maybe, who knows.I use the “classic analog” and the second hand looks like the simplicity one and afair always looked the same

@sartoric
Sadly i can´t use the exact same watchface again because they removed it. I think you are right by saying that the new watchfaces are not yet optimized for the Race S.
Hopefully that will change with the next patch.
