Suunto Race S general discussion
-
@Fabii85 yes, same as Race and Ocean.
-
@isazi I can see the race estimates on my S but I’ve not found the lactate threshold - where’s it hiding?
-
@far-blue On mine its below the race estimates - if you’re not seeing it, try doing a LT test via the S+ app
-
@far-blue if you do not see it, it is because the algorithm does not have enough confidence to give you a value. And, the quality of this algorithm is very bad IMHO. Better wait a couple of weeks and get something better than that.
-
@isazi I haven’t ever seen Lactate Threshold on the Race S, despite logging hundreds of km of running. I’m aware it’s on the Race, but is it supposed to be on the Race S also (not including the anaerobic threshold plus app)?
-
@Matt-Cooper-Kay I would need to ask, I was under the impression that Race S licensed the same algorithms of the Race, but could be that this is not the case (I would actually hope so, that threshold algorithm is not useful)

Hey there ️
Whats with the digital crown are there any common problems when it gets dirty? I had a Samsung Smartwatch years ago and i had much problem at the crown with dirt and saltwater.
I am working a lot with sand thats my problem…
Thanks for your answer.

Hi there
I think the sleep report in the morning on the Suunto Race S has too much of a delay (e.g. compared to the Suunto Vertical). With the Vertical, I received it quite quickly after getting up. With the Race S it takes about 10 minutes.
This morning I didn’t get a report at all because I put the watch on the charger about five minutes after getting up (this is my personal error analysis)
Basically, however, sleep tracking works for me without any problems.

Think there could be something special with the beginning of UTMB week next monday
-
News about Race S Titanium about to be kicked off next week is circulating Reddit.
-
@dulko79 stands to reason: I just bought the purple Race, after losing a battle of wills waiting for the Ti Race S.
@suuntastic they’ve released a UTMB S+ app, so you can see how far you’ve run compared to the total distance of UTMB.

Anyone else in the pro club with Suunto and receive discounted prices?
I’ve just logged in to order a race S and it doesn’t have the discount applied but the normal race does. Just wondered if anyone knew why.
-
@Bexs2247 yes, it is known. Will get there, eventually.
-
@isazi weird because it did have the discount on there before as I had seen it but now it’s not.
-
@Bexs2247 yes, it was there before, it will be there again. Not today.

I have had two fail on me now in the space of 10 days. One with repeated 1403 errors and the replacement had major screen problems. Both have now gone back and I’ve had a refund.
Wont buy another one. Looking at all the issues on here the watch has clearly been launched to early and were doing beta testing for Suunto. -

Wont buy another one. Looking at all the issues on here the watch has clearly been launched to early and were doing beta testing for Suunto. The field testers did a LOT of beta testing. I am not aware of any of us having an issue. I bought my daughter a RaceS and it has not had a single issue. I am really sorry you had this issue and I find it highly unusual that two failed with you. However, the generalization that the watch was released too early and that you are beta testing is an opinion that I disagree with. My Race S has 1440 h of GPS recording and many more days than that of wearing without a serious issue.

@far-blue
First time I had only local maps loaded, but second time I didn’t load any extras in the Race S…I only changed two settings from the watch.
- Default heart rate zones (1,2,3,4,5)
- turned on 24/7 heart rate monitoring and nightly HRV
I haven’t got any issues with my older Suunto watches (Ambit 3 and Peak Pro). Those has been working just fine and are still working without issues…
I’m using my trusty Ambit 3 as my backup now, while the Race S is in repairs -
Hey!
how is battery performance for following use :
- AOD ON
- 10h of activity during week, with 8h GPS (multiband).
- Sleep tracking , daily HR ON, O2 OFF.

THANKS !

I can’t answer your question completely, but with the following key data:
AOD OFF, Backlight low
10h of activity during week, with 8h GPS (multiband).
Sleep tracking , daily HR ON, O2 ON, Messages ONI get about six days.
You also need to consider that you will need to charge with battery at 15 - 20%, depending on your training plans.
With a Vertical you can easily go out for a long training with 15%. With a Race S it will probably work as well, but I start to consider charging before the training. On the other side, charging on the Race S is really fast. So you will get a good gain by only charge it for 15 or 20 minutes.
