SOFTWARE UPDATE 2.35.34 Q2
-
-
Hello Suunto users,
The last update, apart from cool options, introduced some problems in swimming activities - “swimming in the pool”.
Before the last update everything worked perfectly.
After update:
- the SuuntoApp application (iOS and Android) after synchronization constantly shortens (-25m) the recorded distance by the watch (see the attached photo).
-
the watch reduces/adds the pool length, this behavior did not occur before the update.
In tests with Suunto 9 Baro it is still perfect! Cool! -
the scale of the charts and often the values, e.g. “Resources” or “HRV” are different in the watch and in the application (see the attached photo).
- in clock mode (standby), e.g.: “Resources” range, dimension “A” is smaller than dimension “B” after waking up with the button. OK, the dimensions in the photo are small, but there are situations where the values of A and B differ significantly! (see the attached photo).
Does anyone experience similar symptoms or does it apply to these two SV watches?
Thank you in advance for your help.

Hello. The update is a major one and offers a number of interesting new features. Having owned a Suunto Race for 4 months, I took it on a 116 km ultra trail and a marathon. She was an efficient and perfect guide. But I’m rather annoyed by the numerous synchronisation problems I’ve encountered. These problems were not present in March, when I started with the watch, but they are now very frequent. So yes, the solutions of decoupling, switching off and recoupling work in the end, but it’s tiring.
For the last three days, I’ve had to synchronise three or four times in the morning to get the system fully synchronised (otherwise the weather and sometimes sleep are missing). I think that the majority of users want the system to be stable and easy to use. In my view, but this is just my opinion, this is what Suunto should be working on first, before offering other features (in reality, these contributions are certainly positive, but are they essential?) I wish you all a good day. -
@ODo67 +100

I want to be able to cycle through complications like before this last update. This watch just lost a lot of functionality for me. Suunto Race.

@jjpaz même problème j’ai réinitialiser la montre et le problème est résolu

Last update regarding step counter. Hope Suunto is aware and working on it.
My Suunto Vertical: 12899 steps. (On 100%)
Samsung Galaxy S 23 Ultra 21404 steps (on 80%)
Garmin 245 Music: 20.900(on 80%) -
I too seem to have the battery drain issue on my vertical since the update… and step counts are much lower than they were before the update.
Is it possible to downgrade to the previous version while waiting for a fix for the battery drain? -
After you completely drain your battery and charge it from 0% to 100% it’s working now. I have 7 hours of workout this week with best GPS mode and one suuntoPlus (burner) active. From 100% down to 82% this week day 6 with total 7 hours workout best GPS mode. It’s working!
I can’t speed for non solar version vertical.
-
@Marton-Attila good to hear but it’s just a coincidence, many of us did the same and got nothing. I believe in most of the cases drainage is a software problem not a hardware

Vertical has less emoji than S9PP?
Serious bug, my wife is receiving and and not me ?
Still not a serious issue, but just strange that two watches, receiving same messages, don’t have same avaliable emoji.
Is there any technical explanation?
Unlogically, S9PP with less memory, is decoding more emoji. -
the main 2 issues i have so far
- the pause screen bug where if you start moving and it shows the message the activity has been detected you cannot handle the buttons (it’s a bug for sure and i hope the team here could forward it copying @isazi @Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos )
- the sudden battery instability that i thought was not a case for me but there is something strange indeed. For instance without any activity and the oHR disabled i got a 3% drop in 3 hours today! And then again yesterday then was 10% in a full day (wasn’t great but i didn’t really bother) . Previous days was like 10% for 2 days with activities involved (all of these with the same firmware)
The steps and the rest that are mentioned here so far had no impact on me. Even the open water swimming was spot on this time
-
@thanasis I would not worry about the battery yet. Let it go to 0 first.
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos That’s an issue when you’re planning a long ride/run and you need to be sure you’ll have enough battery. There’s definitely some range anxiety associated to the “~20% displayed but really it’s 60 or 70% left”
-
@Fwinns
To avoid anxiety, you can also plan to put the watch on the charger for a couple of minutes. .
Or try the common tip to let the watch discharge fully once, and only then report battery drainage. It could be a real FW issue, but before, everyone should have tried that tip. -
@Mff73 I will let other test those theories for me, a couple of minutes is not enough when you have a ~24-30h ultra trail in two weeks
In the meantime going back to the previous firmware did the trick for me, no more battery drain, everything back to normal -
@Fwinns I love such theories too :))
how did you install previous firmware? I wish I could do the same -
@false there’s another topic on this forum, somebody kindly showed the procedure:
https://forum.suunto.com/topic/11116/firmware-downgrade-to-2-33-16-1/8?_=1720979544607 -
@Fwinns thanks! Will try on my 9pp later
Upd: it’s really nice option to know, but unfortunately for me, previous firmware is the only option. I say unfortunately because my battery was spoiled by November’s 2.30.32 update, long time ago. Of course I have little hope for bugfix, because IMO, starting from 2.30.32, suunto doesn’t care about software quality
