Screen brightness and other issues
-
Hi all.
I have the Suunto 9 for 4 years now.
Recently, I’ve been having some issues with the watch - all of the started before I updated the last firmware, but the update didn’t resolve them:-
Screen Brightness - usually, the watch is set to “Power saving mode” which I deactivate before training, plus the “backlight” setting is on and set to medium. When I press start training, the watch goes dim and I can’t see the screen during night runs and rides. Only when I press any button, it turns bright again, for only a few seconds.

HR monitoring starts suddenly - the watch is set to daily HR monitoring, but the green and orange lights on its back are usually turned off, unless I select the HR from the watch. Recently, even if the watch is on sleep mode and just sits on my desk (not connected to my PC), the HR indicators start blinking and the watch gives HR reading of my desk (84-85 bpm). Also, when starting the HR read manualy, when the watch isn’t on my wrist (and again, on my desk or anywhere else) it still give a read of 80-85 bpm.

Maybe in corralation with the 2nd issue above, during training, the HR reading I’ve been recieving recently are way off. For instance, when climbing on MTB trail, HR is at about 100, while I know and feel it should be around 150-160. In the past it took 3-5 minutes of training to synch, but now it goes out of synch in the middle of traininig and gives inaccurate readings.
Any suggestions on how to resolve these issues?
Thanks! -
