Engo Eyewear- Is it worth a buy?
-
Hi!
Does anyone use Engo 2 amartglasses? I am curious about these and is wondering if it works well with the Vertical. Officialy they only works with Suunto 5 and 9.Thanks
-
@Iggge Funny you ask about that because I messaged Engo just this morning via Facebook and asked if they sync with any newer Suuntos. They replied quickly, and it sounded like they were surprised there were newer Suunto watches
I suspect they just haven’t updated the list of compatible devices lately on the Suunto end. Maybe check in a few days to see if they added some watches to their list? I couldn’t imagine how the 9 and 5 would work but a 9PP or Race or whatnot wouldn’t also work.

@TrailEyes I did ask altso and got the same response as you from Engo. But if it works with the 9 I am thinking it will work with the Vertical? Both have Suunto Plus

@Iggge I have the Engo 2, and they work well with my 9PP. Sorry, no Vertical, so I can’t confirm.
-
@Ze-Stuart would you buy them again?

I am using another ActiveLook model, Cosmo Vision, which works well with the SR. Hence, I would assume SV is covered as well.
Compared with using the native AL app, the difference with the Suunto+ app is that I do not get the “swipe” feature with the glasses. This may not apply to Engo, as I have only tried the Cosmo glasses.

Just got this reply from Engo via Facebook, when I asked them if newer watches are supported:
“We do not have a detailed update from Suunto on their compatibility with ENGO. The ActiveLook app on SuuntoPlus is likely compatible with the latest devices, but they possibly have not updated their documentation after the watches have been launched. You may leverage on our 30 Days trial plan, free shipping both ways, so that you can check by yourself.”

@Iggge actually I already have: I bought the Julbo EVAD-1 when they came out, which is effectively their v1 hardware and sunglasses by Julbo. Engo 2 has v2 hardware (physical power button, magnetic charger instead of micro USB), and sunglasses branded by Engo (I don’t know who makes them, but the photochromic pair are excellent).
