      Hello,
I have a Suunto Vertical and i have ran ~8h with for ~19% of battery with this configuration:

      • suunto app +: companion race
      • suunto app +: ultra walking
      • a route to follow was loaded
      • mode performance
      • no vibration
      • no backlight

A estimation gives an autonomy of 42h…

How to reach the 60h. How was it measured ? With which configuration ?

      Thanks

@Antoine 8h using 19% points of battery in theory gives 42h of battery.

The Suunto+ Apps are eating extra battery. The data sheet values for battery are based on setting like yours, just without S+ apps.

Without them you should be able to get the 60h of battery life!

        Cheers

if you want to benefit from the S+ but you can live with sacrificing a little gnss precision, you can change the battery settings from best to good in custom battery mode

@freeheeler thanks. You are right but it is difficult to know how much S+ eat extra battery.

@Egika do you know if displaying maps during workout use more battery ?

@freeheeler ok, i try to find to best configuration for that (without desactivating all 😉) :

                    • no Suunto+ app activated
                    • a route to follow was loaded
                    • performance mode
                    • no vibration, but notification: on
                    • no backlight when turning wrist
                    • route to follow / map screen not displayed (during all the race)

Is it a good configuration to reach the 60h ?

With map screen (with configuration above) displayed all the time i found an estimation around 40h/45h for a full battery.

Someone knows the conditions used by Suunto ?

following a route for sure force the GPS to max precision.
did you try without it ?

what about using custom battery mode and set gnss precision from best to good and check then?
maps are still available this way.
but bear in mind, it will drain more than expected when the maps are always on display or when you flip to the map very frequently.

@Antoine A second method to reach more battery life is to use an HR strap so OHR is disabled.
A third option is to buy the solar version:)

@Brad_Olwin it is the solar version… but it was cloudy 🤭
And then, 60h would have been tested without HR by Suunto ?

@Antoine I live in a Sunny place but check file export for battery estimates. I am setting well over 60h, usually 80+ with maps, route and 2 apps. You can download a fit file and analyze at DCRainmaker analyzer but you have to pay for it.

Yesterday my battery died, (battery icon appeared) i charged it to 100%, this morning i noticed i have 98%, I go for shopping in full sun, and 10 minutes after i left my house, my battery was 100% again. It was 2h ago, and it still is 100%. Don’t You think battery status in Suunto works a bit weird? I already “recalibrated” my battery last time, to go completly 0 and charge to 100. Its impossible that in 10 minutes i gained 2% back 😄

For HR I typically use a belt, the OHR is not sufficiently accurate while running. My watch is typically connected to my iPhone but my long runs have no cell service so no notifications. I do not turn them off but my phone in Airplane mode.

My last long exercise was a 9h ski tour and my battery estimate was 80h

But this is with special firmware or with GOOD GPS setting, isn’t it? I get an estimation of 65h with the watch at 100% battery level, performance mode, everything off (wifi and BT on) and external HR sensor. All this with the SV Ti Solar.

Battery gauge is quite weird and non linear, it wasn’t linear with the S9B either. I have the watch from mid February, at beginning I had everything ON (except notifications, backlight and rise to wake) and I got like 2 weeks (20% battery remaining) with around 12 hours of activities (10 GPS + 2 non GPS). Then I switched to everything off (except wifi and BT) and the battery cycle was 3 weeks (14% battery remaining) with around 18 hours of activities (3 without GPS). My last cycle was everything off (except wifi and BT) two weeks (21% remaining) and around 20 hours of GPS (6 of them with maps and mainly in the map screen).

I’m pretty satisfied with the battery life, but I do not get some of the amazing values that I see in some places.

PS: I read from some user, in another forum, that if the Wifi is deactivated the battery consumption improves quite a lot, maybe I will try it.

@Brad_Olwin i have tested with notification ON, route to follow loaded but map not displayed, performance mode, no S+ app and no backlight. I have analyzed the FIT file and i can estimate a battery life between 70h and 79h after a 9h race. It was sunny.
