Oleophobic coating and smudges
-
I kindly wanted to use wisdom of this forum - what do you use to deal with smudges on watch screen?
Vertical does not have the best oleophobic coating, so fingerprints and smudges stay and propagate quickly. In general this is not an issue in darker settings or during casual use, but impacts readability in sunny environments where smudges reflect light. It is annoying me enough to try to solve this.
I know there are some screen protectors, and there are kits for restoring oleophobic coating. Has anyone tried any of these methods? What was your experience? Any other advice?

@slurpnik I don’t have an answer, but I’m interested in this too.

@slurpnik and @Outdoorsy I’ve used this in the past on other devices and it seems to work well
Crystal Armor Fusso Cell Phone Fingerprint Oleophobic Coating Kit 3ml from Japan https://a.co/d/gDTmr9l
Might be a way to help your situation and won’t interfere with the touch screen.

@Todd-Danielczyk did not know this existed, I may also buy some to test on some watches

Hum…not too much disturbed by that. For me screen is more quickly cleaned than dirty.
I Regularly simply wash it with warm water and soap. Never had difficulties to remove smudges. -
@isazi There are several types of products out there but this one has worked well for me. Bear in mind that the directions are in Japanese only.
To do a deep cleaning of oils off a surface this stuff is amazing
https://www.amazon.com/ROR-Residual-Oil-Remover-oz/dp/B00JMIFCJKI have used it on various optics that have gotten misted by oil and this strips it away. Using a cleaner like this ahead of the other gave me the absolute best results.
