Vertical performance on 100 miles and Suunto visibility at UTMB
-
Hi, I just wanted to share my great experience with the Vertical Solar on the 100 miles of Istria I ran last weekend. After over 21 hours I lost 30% of battery in a performance mode and everything on. That’s a crazy battery life!
Following the route with a background maps was also a great experience. The track was very well marked but still after being used to following only the track without maps this is a huge improvement for my way of using the watch. And overall - the Vertical is such a robust and well build watch that I can’t say a bad word about it. There is a room for improvement but for a 100 miles race it’s basically perfect.
And I have to say that Suunto was very well presented in the race. I think that it’s a great deal for Suunto being part of UTMB races. It feels like a premium watch again. I think it’s well deserved. That’s all -
@Zdeněk-Hruška great performance, you are strong!
-
@Likarnik thank you! It’s a beautiful race. And also a good test for a Vertical watch (or almost every watch)
-
@Zdeněk-Hruška I’ll probably race it next year, this year I am already registered to another 100miler on 26th (UTVV) and two 100milers in 3 weeks are no go for me. But a friend who finished Istria is coming to UTVV, he did that combo last year and he will do it this year too
-
@Likarnik yeah I would be careful about doing too many 100 milers close to each other,
it’s a big hit for my body and mind and takes some recovery. But some people seem to tolerate it well Good luck on your races and enjoy it! You have very exciting plans! -
Great work and congratulations! Go Czechs!
-
@Zdeněk-Hruška congrats on your race!
-
@isazi @martintrail thank you guys!!!
-
Great job! And I fully agree on the Vertical! Love mine!
-
@Zdeněk-Hruška Congratulations! Nice work on the race! Did you use any S+ apps?
-
@Brad_Olwin thank you! Yes I did use the Race Pacer app and haven’t had any issues with it. Just noticed that if you are behind your goal time more than an hour it shows only minutes (e.g. 10:00 minutes behind instead of 1:10:00). Or at least I think so if I remember correctly. But that’s my issue that I ran too slow
Other than that no issues at all -
@Zdeněk-Hruška Istria 100, wow. I have good memories from Istrian Wine Run Marathon, but 100 miles is something different! Kudos! Was it full of wine too?
-
@Łukasz-Szmigiel I didn’t get any wine during the race but there was a huge hangover even without it
-
Huge well done, what an achievement. Sounds utterly epic!
-
@Zdeněk-Hruška I had the same experience, Race Pacer told me I was slower than my optimistic anticipation!
-
@Brad_Olwin I guess that many people had this unpleasant experience running ultras There could be another app called Ultra Pacer which would slow down the pace drastically in the second half
-
@Zdeněk-Hruška said in Vertical performance on 100 miles and Suunto visibility at UTMB:
There could be another app called Ultra Pacer which would slow down the pace drastically in the second half
I don’t need an app for that, it happens automatically
-
@MiniForklift Yes but the pacing estimation would be more realistic
