New Suunto Baro 9
-
Hi I’m new to the Suunto line up.
I own the Suunto baro 9 love the style of it more so then the new race and vertical.
Would be nice to see the same features of the race and vertical inside the Suunto baro style watch. I even love the retro display. And leave the 24mm strap very comfortable and makes the watch feel more snug on the wrist then the 22mm and 20 mm straps. -

I agree with you, so that is why I hold on to my Spartan Ultra. But our watches don’t have the memory and processor power to run the refreshed operating system – neither has the S9P.

That would mean Suunto had to do a new watch with updated internals, maybe reusing the SSU or S9B casing (maybe a bit thinner).

I’m quite happy that Suunto has settled on a standard, which seems to be 22 mm with quick-release of the strap from the casing. My SSU is very proprietary in that aspect.

@Sean-Marshall hi Sean, I’m a recent 9 baro user and really loving it. I’d still love to try the Vertical. Nice to meet you!

While I primarily wear a Vertical these day, the 9 Baro is my favorite sportwatch ever! Love just about everything about that watch.
I don’t anticipate that Suunto would ever do a retro styling like that with current hardware, but it’s an interesting idea and I’d probably buy one

I agree, the S9B is a fantastic sports watch and I used it for years. I upgraded to the Vertical nearly a year ago and I was 50/50 on whether I was going to like it, was fully prepared to be unsurprised if the S9B stayed on my wrist. However I got sucked in with Vertical’s amazing maps, finally having running power as a data field and the display being easier to read despite the watch being a little smaller
Good to see that the S9 is still being supported through updates; with regards to the comment about wanting to implement SV & SR features I’m of the understanding that this is not possible due to the hardware differences/limitations. Welcome to the forum Sean

@MiniForklift I went a similar route with the Baro 9 < Peak 9 (loved the quicker charge over the Baro but missed the larger screen) < Vertical Solar.
The Vertical has that robust feel of the Baro, the GPS lock is exceptionally faster, and it charges about 3 times quicker. I also appreciate the standardized lug of 22mm as it makes it much easier to find bands. I have been happy with it so far.
