          Greetings,

So to confirm? This line is not a defect in the photovoltaic panel?

I unboxed a new Suunto X Mammut Vertical and noticed the line. IMG_20240121_182325~2.jpg

@L-C you don’t need to worry, we all have it. Connexion to solar panel.

@L-C yes it is supposed to be there. All of us solar owners have it/see it and is part of the sandwich of photovoltaic.

Congratulations on your Suunto X; haven’t seen one in person yet! 👍

@General_Witt just checked my Vertical and it hasn’t got the bar. If I could work out how to upload a photo…

@Audaxjoe are you sure you have a Solar watch? That is the solar panel connection and all Vertical Solar have it.

@Audaxjoe by chance is yours the solar version? It seems the small line at the 9:00 position on the outside ring of the green (or grey depending on the tilt) solar bezel that surrounds the screen connects to the photovoltaic ring. I have seen it on all Vertical Solar versions I have come across.

                        @isazi @Todd-Danielczyk I believe that @Audaxjoe adressed a different issue raised by @General_Witt here: https://forum.suunto.com/post/127392
                        Not the solar panel connection.

                        SV: fingers crossed :D
S9 (non-baro): died after 2 months, replaced, holding strong since 03/20
Spartan Trainer: casing broke after 23 months, repaired, lost watertightness 5 months later, died
Despite some pretty bad luck, I still love Suunto!

I took a picture under a macroscope: Slight tilt of 20 deg to show the two connection points. This is a thin connector right at the 9 o’clock position on my Solar.

@Todd-Danielczyk And I also have that line - the solar connector. Not a solar watch = no connector / no line!

@Todd-Danielczyk You are correct; there is a line, but it’s very hard to see. You have to look at a specific angle and take a close-up shot. /correction

@Swaddy61 I am editing this post as I was able to see a line when I tilted my watch as was suggested here. My watch is Vertical Mammut X. Great watch btw… Sorry for confusion.

@tEhNoDrOmE When I first got the watch I saw a thin hairline at the 9 o’clock; I was concerned that there was a defect of the sapphire (chip/scratch or delamination from the watch body). I looked at it under a scope and realized it was an electrical connection to the solar panel.

The line runs vertical and has two termination points perpendicular to the bezel and I have seen it on all the standard Solar Verticals I have seen (haven’t come across any of the edition watches so I couldn’t say for sure with those).

@tEhNoDrOmE No problem and it is good to get this answered on the forum. Trust me, I was confused when I saw it as it only shows up when the watch is at a certain angle. If we have questions, others will too! 😉
