More customizable analog watchfaces.
Without glasses at night a digital watchface is no use for me, whereas the only analog one works fine. During the day while equipped with glasses I would love to be able to change the complications other that simply being able to see altitude or battery.
Let me know Suunto if you want help with that. I am a software engeneer and “speak” a lot of programming languages. I am sure being able to help you out.
The existing analog watchface is good and nicely done. But at least I need more possibilities to change it.
Greetings KruziOwner of the first Ambit - Fenix 3HR - Fenix 5 Pro - Crossover Tactical solar - and since a month the Suunto Vertical Titanium
-
@Ja-Kruzinesen Same for me with regards to more customisable complications on the otherwise excellent analog watchface - it is also the only one I can read without glasses, which is a pre-requisite for ANY watch I buy now!
-
Coming from Garmin watches, what I think is missing the most :
- Being able to download new watch faces
- Being able to record swimming drills (without that, swimming activity is useless)
- Being able to pause an activity, for example, going for a full day hike, I would love to be able to choose “resume later”, during that time, the watch go back to idle and save up battery, instead of having gps still on while in activity pause
- Being able to change some settings during an activity (enabling/disabling auto lap …)
Even without that, I’m way more satisfied with Suunto Vertical than what I had with Garmin.
Also, I would love to be able to fully customize Battery Mode and create my custom, and being able to choose every setting independantly (Bluetooth, luminosity, GPS precision, vibration, maps …)

In an ideal world, the ability to connect to a Concept 2 Indoor Rower (PM5 onwards I think), as I could with the Coros, would be really good - it then directly gives you distance, stroke rate, stroke length etc.
@mrenaude Likewise - I am also very satisfied with my Vertical, however a few ‘little’ improvements / additions would be the ‘icing on the cake’!
-
@Swaddy61 Unfortunately, that would require ANT+ as I have a Concept 2 Ski Erg and it only works through ANT+ with my Garmin although it will receive HR via BLE via watch or HRM strap.
-
@seanvk I’m pretty sure the PM5 has ANT+ AND Bluetooth, at least according to my manual!
-
@Swaddy61 You are correct, the PM5 that comes on the ERG rower is both ANT+ and Bluetooth Smart compatible.
From their site
ANT+ and Bluetooth Smart wireless heart rate monitoring with compatible equipment
https://www.concept2.com/service/monitors/pm5And calling out Suunto Smart Sensor
https://www.concept2.com/service/heart-rate-equipmentThis would be awesome if we could get it to direct connect as I use the ERG App, use a chest strap and run indoor rowing to connect everything; then back sync to Suunto App once I am done rowing. Needing to look at both Apps to determine distance/stroke rate/HR/Calories. Having the data right at my wrist would be killer.
-
@Swaddy61 Thanks for the correction. That would be awesome.

As the big update brought only the Race-watchface I still wish one with a barometric trend. I would even be happy with a two part arrow like in the old vector, and almost all Suunto watches since that.
In my opinion a watch advertised as “Adventure watch for outdoor expeditions and training” should have this. The small weather icon does not help in places where is no coverage the same problem with the suunto plus weather app which is additionally complete senseless with just one hour forecast.
Why can´t we have the watchface with barometric pressure and sunrise-sunset from the S9Baro? -
New Suunto user for 6 weeks now with training/competition oriented use running, trail running (+ cycling for cross training) I would like an update for:
- The resolution of the one day shift of TSB, CTL, TSS
- During complex training, obtain 2 or 3 beeps announcing the end of the stage and the change of exercise to come (example 10x400m at VMA)
- Get an alert outside target areas
- An update of the HR data from the watch sensor (it gets carried away very quickly in daily monitoring use)

Countdown for the end of a step during a structured workout has been missing for a while and would be a very useful add.

@stromdiddily and also the repet counter which is also missed a lot !
-
@stromdiddily Agree with all of the above. I hope that the wrist HRM accuracy can be improved.
I might add support for more than one paired BT sensor of any type (e.g. heart rate monitor). I have more than one strap that I use, and I’m sure that people have multiple power meters as well.
Edit: Also would like to increase the number of routes that can be stored on the watch. I am having to manage this more than I’d like, and the Suunto app doesn’t have a good way to filter/show all the routes on the watch, without having to page through all of them.
But number one for me would be to fix the wrist HR estimates.
-
To get around this, I use interval in basic race mode (ex 10x30/30 at a given pace)
you have the indication of the repetitions. -
@Fizzgig waiting for this as well… in particularly 1 and 4

Here’s a little something I’d like to see from the next update. I like the Vertical watchface. But I would be happy if I could freely change all the data that is to be displayed. For example, I would like to see the weather on the left and the date on the right. I just can’t combine the two. Those readings can only be selected on the left side. But I don’t understand why there’s an altitude. The altitude is already on the watchface.

@Pavlas
your photo is better than mine , but your idea is as good as https://forum.suunto.com/topic/8279/choosable-fields-on-watch-faceI thought of it with my old S9PP, but now, “lots” of SuuntoWatches are sharing the same FW basics, S9PP/Vertical/Race (S9P ?, etc…) may benefit from same ideas
Assuming we may have any impact on Suunto’s priorities, the question is : how could be gather all ideas votes into the same messages
Btw, i love your idea.
-
@Mff73 Aaaa, sorry, didn’t see that
-
I think I already requested this - it is especially noticable on the (one!) analogue face on the SV which only has one (!) changeable complication (out of 4 complications), and then only two data possibilities - altitude or battery level. My Ambit 3 had more options…
