@Dušan-Ković So if you think so, go away friend. Ask for that in Suunto support. Don’t give up. Suunto prefers commercial product segmentation. It’s fair. But don’t give up. We just want to put Suunto products near of God! 🙂

Update: after upgrading to FW 2.4.14 it seems that the amount of steps decreased significantly and is closer to real number but I need more time to confirm (upgraded yesterday)

So after one day of observation: I woke up with 35 steps, which I’m pretty sure didn’t take during night 🙂 But still there is a progress, because before upgrade there were like 150-200 steps… In terms of overall day count - there is like even 40% less steps. Which in my opinion is good, closer to real amount. So the context engine seems to do the job 👍

ut why not put a SF3 features on S9 also? They could be useful sometimes they cannot hurt anyways

          Market Segmentation Probably

          Race
          S9P with a firmware too
          SSSWHR with a firmware inside
          Ambit 3 Run

The latest update is in my opinion a huge step in the right direction. I also saw that the watch now shows the calories for the day on the steps view (I haven’t noticed that one in the past or at least haven’t click the alternative information button in that view).

I tested it a little bit last night and the step count is far more accurate now. Now if only there was historical heart rate data (ya I know it’s coming), I will have have no big complains and will recommend it to friends.

@PC_et 35 steps while sleeping is more than acceptable, huge improvement. My suuntp baro records 400~ steps during the night and I am not lunatic 🙂

I’m with the latest FW version I woke up with 500-600 steps 3th day in a row 🙂 Also apparently I’m sleeping about 5 hours a day on average so I guess I’m sleep walking the other 3 hours, and this is where the steps come from…

                  hahaha!

Ok I would suggest a watch reset but you might not want todo that.
Perhaps too much tossing arround? Are the sleep times ok?

Im tossing arround a lot. this is why I would expect not to count steps during the night (i set up my sleep hours). I already reset the watch, will see if the results differ.

For me the start of sleep time often is one to two hours late.

I had opposite situation couple of times - for example 3 hours less. But found the coincidence - it happened only if i stood up for a while (during the night) and than got back to sleep. Probably watch recorded it as wake up time.

Other issue: I was at the swimming pool (25 meters) 3 times lately and decided to use swimming option (perfect for someone like me: "how many pools have I already done…?) . Every time first pool was counted as 50 meteres. So I ended up with 25 meters too much.

@Armin-S how do you know exactly when you went to sleep? Laying on the bed is not sleep 🙂

@SlaSh That’s exactly the problem! If I read in bed for half an hour, the S3F can not cope.

Let’s insert the function/button “start sleeping” (and then gives extra eg 15…30 minutes). The automatic does not work unfortunately.

BTW: The automatic recognition of a workout was indeed already discussed here in another thread and considered not useful. That’s exactly how it is with the start of sleeping.

Sorry for the duplicate entry, but I slept very little - according to my S3F 😵

@Armin-S start sleep wouldn’t be true sleep as you wont get into sleep after pressing the button immediately, so kinda sleep button is pointless…

@SlaSh But that way as the sleep tracking NOW works, it is also pointless. The real time of falling asleep is unfortunately very often not recognized by the S3F!

So: thoroughly revise and correct or consider my proposal (button and configurable time - just like some other smartwatches do) - optional for (possibly not working) automatic.

Of course, the automatic would be better - but then it has to work correctly!

@Armin-S You know, I have a thing for sleep tracking, so I tried most of the activity trackers out there and then some. I don’t have a problem sleeping, mind you 😛 I do have a big problem stopping myself from a million things that at the time seem far worthier pursuits than sleeping. Well, the morning is usually a different story 😴

None of the trackers can accurately detect sleep day in and day out. Polar had me always fall asleep few hours too late. Garmin was all over the map until recently, still isn’t very accurate, especially if you lie quietly reading a book inside your do-not-disturb ours. Fitbit was fairly close but then would have me sleep-walking in the middle of the night. Oura wasn’t bad, but had its issues. If it was wrong, it was really wrong. I can go all the way back to Jawbone and Basis.

Things should improve though. There’s a lot you can add to accelerometer data with ORH and HRV to better detect sleep state and phase. Hopefully, Suunto/Firstbeat would look into this.

Exactly as you say @NickK. If Suunto does not get it right with the automatic, then please provide a manual version and start recording at the time specified by me. And then I know where possible mistakes come from and don’t miss 2…3…4 hours on sleep (recording). Luckily I’m sleeping and dreaming anyway 😇

I have had very good luck with sleep tracking on the latest firmware by inserting my sleep times and then selecting DND manually. I typically will go to bed and then select DND but either watch a little TV news or read a few minutes before I fall asleep. The fall asleep time on my S9 has been very accurate. I don’t use this much but wanted to test it for my traveling to Europe. When I was using autoDND it seemed far less accurate.

Thanks for the tip, I will then use the DND accordingly. Would be nice if it works better then 😴

@Svetlin-Tonchev The fix for ‘sleep steps’ will come later, so we were aware of that issue. Unfortunately it dropped from this release. Currently this new approach seems to give statistically about 30% less steps than the previous ones.
