Vo2 max - sport modes
-
@dulko79 I don’t know. I’m just guessing with things I found on the internet
-
@Lechamoix yes, I know. I just find it absurd that a simple fix of being able to turn it off for particular workouts didn’t come for years. And besides - we don’t know how the new algorithm will handle slow and long hikes.
-
@Łukasz-Szmigiel this might be beyond the logic of how Suunto likes to keep things simple and stupid
-
@altcmd to me, the only real issue that I have with Suunto is the stubbornness in not willing to give users the ability to tweak their experience to their liking. I’m thinking about all those QOL improvements that appear once in a while in the forum. Each one of them is too small to be a real issue, but altogether are really annoying.
I.e.:
- Ability to disable VO2 max estimation
- Ability to dismiss the “keep moving” or “calibrate the compass” nag once per workout
- Ability to customize the data fields in watch faces
- Ability to set more than one alarm
- Ability to lock the buttons outside the workout
- Ability to cycle screens backwards without the touch screen
- Ability to adjust brightness and vibration strength in more levels and without the UI changing between versions
- Ability to prioritize battery settings over the navigation screen (navigation screen forcing the best battery mode)
- Ability to turn off vertical navigation screen
And the list goes on.
-
@Łukasz-Szmigiel agreed - each too small but together too big.
-
@altcmd and none of this requires super duper new hardware or innovative approach…
-
@Likarnik wonder why Suunto is losing so much money
-
I bet it’s a classical “the product owner decided otherwise”
-
@Łukasz-Szmigiel because he knows best
-
It’s so annoying to me to mix periods of hiking with running that I prefer to use my Garmin lately just because they actually do distinguish when it comes to VO2 Max calculation.
-
I am quite bored as well with VO2max decrease after cool walk or run.
I finally use outdoor sport mode to record this and change sport mode after in Suunto app.
-
@v-sacre i figured out the same just that I use cycling and not outdoor sports
-
@Stefan-Kersting said in Vo2 max - sport modes:
Is there a possibility to disable the Vo2 max measuring in the hiking/walking sports mode? One alternative I considered is to hike e.g. in cycling mode and edit it back to hiking activity
Hello,
I would like to know if what the above user wrote has been fixed (Suunto 9 Peak Pro too?) with the next update or if we still need the trick he suggests.
Thank you,
