Reset while charging
-
@surfboomerang Mine is a solar; was connect to wifi to update maps and charging. Crash occurred while watch switched from the round charging display to the watch display with charging icon.
Crashed at 97% charge and performed factory reset causing the data to be lost and having to manually change the settings on the watch (sex, height, weight, sounds, sleep tracking, sport mode, etc).
What is strange is I do not see the option to send logs to Suunto on the app.
-
@Todd-Danielczyk Same for me. Screen changed to watchface with time and charging icon instead of the round charging bar screen. I’ve never seen that screen before, always the new charging screen…
-
@jjpaz please send logs and DM me email you use in Suunto App (and please don’t create duplicate posts/topics)
-
@Todd-Danielczyk Depending on the app version/platform feature to send logs is either in the end of the Settings or in the Watch menu
-
@pavel-samokha Done, thanks!
-
@pavel-samokha thank you. I will check and send.
-
@Todd-Danielczyk @jjpaz
Thanks for your logs.Unfortunately we couldn’t pinpoint exact cause from them, but there are two things I’d like to ask you to do:
- Try to disable WiFi on the watch (Settings -> Connectivity)
- If issue happens again please try to send the logs as soon as possible
-
@pavel-samokha Will do, and thank you and the team for looking into this for us.

@pavel-samokha Just out of curiosity (or in case it’s related), the problem arose when I connected the watch to the charger in the office where I work, and there the watch does not have any Wi-Fi network configured…
Could it be a bug when trying to connect via Wi-Fi when connecting the battery charger?
It would be easy to reproduce. -
Another two crashes while updating maps and connected to wifi. Captured error 1403 after it hard reset. Watch was at 81% charge and showed the same symptoms as above going from charge ring to watch face with charge icon. (logs sent to Suunto)
Appears to be a bug with wifi and wifi is required to download maps. It would be extremely useful to allow maps to be downloaded via mobile data as well as login wifi (hotels); neither currently work with the offline map feature.
Traveling remotely doesn’t always give a dedicated wifi connection without a login and it could be useful having different options to download maps while traveling. Personally, I have mobile data and verfication wifi much more often than I do a dedicated 2.4GHz network to use when I am traveling. -
@Todd-Danielczyk
You can use your phone hotspot wifi 2.4GHz to share your phone data to your watch. -
@Mff73 Unfortunately that can get really costly when roaming in some countries.
Downloading on phone and then transfer later to the watch might be an option. This way you can use public WiFi for the download. -
@surfboomerang, OK.
I will try to validate (except if an expert confirm) , but I think that you can connect your phone to a WiFi network, and in parallel share a “phone” hotspot from your phone which finally will share the WiFi data.
I may be wrong, but I think it should work. -
@Mff73 I’m not sure. My phone tells me it will disable WiFi when I enable mobile hotspot.
-
@surfboomerang
Test done, Samsung S20, connected to home wifi, mobile data turned off, phone hotspot on, and Suunto SV connected only to phone hotspot.
I downloaded successfully one map -
@Mff73 Ah, found it!
I noticed that my “wifi sharing” option was disabled under advanced settings. -
Today I’m recharging the watch (2 weeks after the last time), battery was at 25% but tomorrow I’m travelling so better traver with full charge.
I’ve disabled Wi-Fi connection before charging and watch is recharging correctly with the “charging screen” (it’s 96% just now). -
Goode evening everybody,
today I charged the SV. It had 50% of battery at the start. At 97% the watch went blank and I had to press the upper button for 12 seconds to reset the watch. Firmware 2.30.26.
Greetings!
-
@Lechamoix it’s happened three or four times to me all in the last month. I assumed it just went to sleep after it charged but I only charge it a couple of minutes while I shower
-
Today the first time, that my Vertical powered off after charging and I was forced to do a soft reset. I forgot to remove the watch from the charger after the 100 % were shown and I think this is the trigger for the bug. If I remove the watch immediately after charging to 100 % there has not been any problem until now.
