Watch turned off and does not reboot
-
Not sure it’s a water issue, my brother went swimming in the sea a good amount of time and the watch crashed weeks after. Okay it was after a swim in a river but it should have crash way before in the sea.

@darxmurf
I am using my watch in waters frequently in several types of waters… rain, shower, heavy sweating, sea, lake, pool, jacuzzi… never crashed -
@freeheeler went swimming with mine as a first activity test 2 days ago and it’s fine too problem is elsewhere maybe

Hello,
Had exactly the same problem with my Vertical yesterday.
Went swimming in the Ocean using snorkeling mode. 30 Min 5 dives. After that the watch went funny. It was difficult to navigate the watch via screen or push buttons. I then did a soft rest and the watch went blank. Tried the charger, holding reset again, pushing all button at the same time, etc. Nothing works. An Eur 800 watch which lasted about 2.5 Months. Now dead.First time this ever happened to a Suunto watch. Been using Suunto since the Ambit.
Going through this thread, it it clear that this is not an isolate case. It seems certain Suunto Verticals have issues with water.
Once returning from our vacation, there is no option left other then opening a repair ticket and sending it back to Suunto.
Regards

@darxmurf Went swimming with mine yesterday in the ocean, after that needed to do a soft reset and the watch went blank. The watch is dead since.

@Norbert I kept the sequence to reset or shutdown the watch, can you try it?
- press 4 seconds the middle button
- 1 press middle
- 9 press down then center then top to shutdown the watch
OR - 8 press down then center then top to factory reset the watch
-
What I find pretty sad here it’s the fact that suunto is not publishing anything about that issue.
-
@darxmurf
It’s not just the Vertical, my 9 Peak Pro died in the same way last night and I can’t get it to turn back on. -
@Norbert Was the watch recording an activity or was it just submerged?
-
by any chance did you pressed any button while under water?
-
@darxmurf Many thanks. Will try. But not quite clear on the sequence though.

@sartoric No I did not.
-
@surfboomerang I had it in Snorkel Mode. When out of the water it had about 30min and 5 dives recorded. So I guess the answer is yes m.
After being back on shore the watch went funny. I could not navigate it probably. I the. Did a soft reset and the watch went blank. It is blank since.

@darxmurf I tried your suggestions in various combinations. The watch remains unresponsive. I think the watch is dead. Once back in Europe I’ll send it back to Suunto.
I am using Suunto since the early Ambit versions., plus I have a D6I. This happened never to me before.
Thank you for your help though.

My brother just received his watch back. Here is the explanation.
Dear Customer, I have examined your unit for the faults reported in the fault description and performed all the necessary tests. I discovered that the issue you have faced is caused by a known software bug. We are currently working on solving this issue and the problem should be fixed in the next software release. Best regards
-
@darxmurf I also forwarded all the forum discussions and topics to Suunto, in case there is some information here that’s relevant for the developers
-
@isazi : Thank you Isazi. It will be nice to understand this “monster bug”, to get some recommendations from Suunto to avoid it and a procedure to reboot the SV if necessary.
-
@bruno-tanqueray if they found the bug in question and already have a fix, I strongly suggest them to push that update asap
-
@darxmurf : Yes you are right I’m waiting also this update!

Hello,
I just received my SV few minutes ago, which had been repaired in Finland after more than 15 days (DHL was very slow due to bank holidays in France). Good news, it’s not a new watch but my model repaired without reset and return to factory settings. So all my settings and maps have been kept. However no new firmware, I stay with 2.25.66 ;-(
The battery of my watch was completely empty, I understand that to obtain a reboot it is the best solution. But how do we do this on our own when faced with a watch that is off and no longer responding to anything… There must be a solution while waiting for the firmware update!
