Trip to the Canadian Rockies
-
We spent seven days in the Canadian Rockies last week. I brought my Suunto Vertical with me. Prior to the trip, I loaded up the maps I needed for Banff Forest areas in Alberta. We are from Oregon, but this is on another level. Amazing sights and hikes. We did day hikes, a mixture of two-a-day and long single days. Our ascents were under 500m range. Our distances covered were under 20km a day. The Vertical performed flawlessly. GPS and Heart rate were consistent and had no issues. Map data was good. I did not do any pre-hike route guidance building for the trails. I mostly used the map on the watch to get a view of where we were on the trail. More situational information than anything else really. But that’s what I like. Since we followed established trails, it was straightforward. Battery life was amazing. No complaints there! Just an all around useful tool for our week long adventure. Plus we managed to avoid any run ins with bears or cougars.
