Questions about Vertical OHR Sensor
-
Hello so and so community, I’m sitting in my car right now and looking at my heart rate and my heart rate says 145 while I’m sitting in the car and driving very relaxed after I’ve put the watch down for a minute and put the watch back on my wrist, it shows Heart rate sensor normal 75 per minute is this an error in the watch or in the heart rate sensor should I send in the watch this is not normal!!! This bad measurement is often the last time. Could you all please have a much more look about this on your Vertical and tell here about!!! Please

No idea what is going on with OP, but I must also confess that I have also been a bit surprised by the quality of OHR sensor. Seems like it can be persistently off by a meaningful margin.
With previous garmin and apple watches I did learn that OHR would not work during interval runs very well but that in even paced, zone1-2 efforts it would usually be quite reliable. With the vertical I cant say I trust it that much. Readings can be 30bpm above or below what I would be expecting based on my effort.
I hope this is something that could be solved by software updates, but I have no idea what might be causing it. Im thinking maybe the watch is heavier than other watches so it might move around more easily and would need to be put on very tightly and maybe tighter than what is comfortable.

Have also noticed very large spikes in OHR readings, they are sustained for few minutes at a time as well. Not just the odd spike for a few seconds.

@6294946 thank you that it’s not just me I have no idea what’s going on. The sensor of the Suunto 9 Peak pro definitely does it better. Such spikes, especially if they are so long (also affects the exact calories, etc.), please improve them quickly. I also noticed when this phenomenon occurs that the Vertical measures exactly DOUBLED the heart rate. I’ve checked it multiple times now. no idea if the OHF sensor has an error or software overload every few hours… I have no idea!

@GiPFELKiND I have two Vertical watches and neither show this problem. I know that several other testers have good HR readings as well. So there are two possibilities: 1. This sensor does not work well for you, whatever the reason. 2. There is something wrong with the watch.
I see HR spikes when running occasionally on technical downhill trails. I do not observe this issue driving, walking, sitting, etc. -
Just noticed that the DC rainmaker review also had examples of not so accurate OHR readings:

Not sure how helpful it is to just say that something just doesnt work for a specific person I understand if people wear the watch too loose then it might not work as expected. But, in general, it should work for most people and most of the time, right?
