Feature Suggestion: download maps when not connected to charger.

@Egika
now I would reeeeaaallly like to know what you’re thinking and what made you laughing -
@isazi No idea, just asking … is not possible to utilise the BT connection?
-
@tomasbartko no, too slow, the maps are not staged in the app, the watch connects to Suunto servers and downloads them.
-
@freeheeler maybe, but I have tried to download a 96MB map and had to walk around to get a wifi reception with a powerbank connected to the watch. Was not so fun… and didn’t work out.

@Egika
now I would reeeeaaallly like to know what you’re thinking and what made you laughingI like you see the glass half full, instead of saying that the watch downloads slowly on a fast wifi.
-
@Umer-Javed
…I was distracted with work… I wanted to say that the speed is the same and the watch has a slow wifi bypass functionality -
@freeheeler I figured what you meant to say. I’m only teasing you
-
@freeheeler @Umer-Javed you both got me right.
Have a nice day -
Is there an intention to improve the maps a bit and on the way to increase the scale above 500 for the benefit of mountain bikers
-
@Danny-poleg yes, maps are being improved.
-
@isazi You are great - we will patiently wait for the update
-
@Danny-poleg
And ultra runners -
With recent map updates, my SV was on charger a long time for map downloading, and during this download, the battery gauge didn’t change : no charge.
Is it normal, and designed like this? -
@Mff73 This sounds crazy to me, because my SV is charging and downloading maps at the same time… but charging was much faster than downloading last time when I was updating the maps of Germany…
-
@Rokelly Not a good idea as running out of power while downloading would be bad.
-
@isazi How to download the map on the Race in WiFi? The app only works in conjunction with the charger.
-
@laufbursche7
it’s not possible to download without the charger. it was requested to make this possible, but some maps are very big and transferring time is long -
and WiFi is energy hungry
-
@freeheeler thanks for answering.
I thought there was another option because I didn’t take my charger with me to Denmark. I ran without topography yesterday. I didn’t get lost.
