Cannot perform soft reset

So after getting on again/off again black grid map (sometimes working and sometimes not), I thought I would do ANOTHER soft reset. However, even though the screen had gone into non touch mode (i.e. no seconds are showing on the main solar screen), each time I hold down the upper right button, it immediately starts scrolling through all of the sport profiles. Ive tried this several times with no luck. Wait for seconds to disappear, hold only the upper right button, and each time, just right into scrolling.

Any suggestions?

Keep the button pressed, and wait.
Scrolling will end on top of the list, but soft reset will happen.

@Mff73 Perfect. Thanks! The scrolling was a bit alarming and not in the manual. I have also done this before and it didn’t scroll…(?)

I recall scrolling happened always with Vertical and S9PP when soft resetting. it’s true, it’s not very intuitive, but it shouldn’t be a frequent routine either

Unless the watch gets stuck, I prefer to not use the upper button to restart the watch, but go to settings - general - turn off and then turn the device back on.

it’s a new start and by @isazi 's comment I imagine a laptop that needs a restart, vs forced shutdown and start by long pressing the power button when nothing works anymore
there was no shut down function in S9B, I am not used to that yet

@freeheeler True, that’s a good comparison. And in fact, I don’t remember there being a shutdown function on my S9Baro either.
