Navigation question

currently you have two options:
a) keep activity running (paused etc) like you suggest
b) sync to phone and from the recorded track make a route. Sync this back to the watch. I know that at least with the iOS app, you need cell coverage for this… -
Thanks mate that was my next question I had my phone with me however zero reception where I was on 1200m mountain in rainforest remote area. I was able to sync my activity to the phone but at the time I didn’t think to try save the activity as a route then load it on watch. But you say this would only work with internet anyway?
Least I know my options now thank you
-
@gone-troppo let’s check with the Android folks if this is possible without internet…
@isazi ? -
In Android, just checked while my phone was in flight mode:
- Saved previously synced activity in the app as a route.
- Synced route to watch
- Confirmed route is now on watch
As we know already, activities can sync to phone while phone is offline.

@LitchiMonster
@Egika
confirmed, android works offline -
@freeheeler Still, it would be nice to do this watch only.
-
@surfboomerang yes. of course this would be nice.
It was possible with the Suunto Ambit and has been requested before.Just to help the TO we need to explain what is possible right now.
-
Ok so I can’t do this on my apple phone, I’m not very tech savvy can someone tell me why this works offline on an android device and not apple? I don’t really understand why
-
@Egika same thing
-
@gone-troppo That’s missing indeed from newer watches and it’s a real hassle what you need to do to get the recorded track back as a route.
-
I would love this feature implemented from the watch directly. I have no idea how in term of UX after finishing the previous activity… But I am sure Suunto UX guys can find something clever!
On a another hand, Is the live track feature form Garmin could be have its equivalent in the Suunto?
Thank you!
