Strava segments will be disabled temporary
-
@sartoric I already have a Vertical but do not have Strava segments. FW 2.25.46
-
@trailcafe Vertical also is not final.

@isazi said in Strava segments will be disabled temporary:
@Prenj works on Vertical, will get back to the other watches that supported it with the coming firmware update. This is what I know. Also DC Rainmaker tested it in the Vertical review.
But it will work only for Strava premium members.
Which Suunto watches will be compatible?
I have the 5 peak -
@Guillaume-Faure don’t remember, maybe all that support S+ guides.
-
@trailcafe check your guides. I think you need to have a fieldtest account or be an official reviewer to have that feature.
-
-
any news for the firmware update ?
-
@GuillaumeF it should be real soon.

Following this procedure makes now Strava Live segment (both running and cycling) syncing well on my Suunto App
Will go for a run to test today or tomorrow -
Tested with S9PP / running and worked fine

I’d actually quite like that, what’s the process to apply or at least be considered? Thanks in advance

I am trying to get the Strava segments showing up in the watch and have no success.
I loaded the beta (pre-release) f/w to the watch and for a brief moment, the starred segment (only one) showed up in the SA. But it never loaded into the watch.
I disconnected the Strava account, went through the problems of reconnecting, connected back, and… nothing.
I dropped all starred segments in Strava, restarred a few, disconnected and connected back to Strava, and still nothing.
Is there some secret handshake needed to get it going? Do I need to load some additional guide or app?
The instructions on Suunto site are pretty simple and straightforward. I must be missing some step.
Any advice?

@MdzOtt I have tried everything I can think of but no luck with my S9B. Live segments work fine on my wives vertical though.

The segments have been officially announced by Strava too.
-
@isazi I noticed and the S9B is included. But no segments come across from Strava.
update: i disconnected from Strava, removed all routes, and connected back. The routes came across fine, but still no segments.
update2: i got it working, eventually. I disabled all starred segments in Strava, disconnected Strava in Partner services, uninstalled the SA, rebooted the phone, installed SA again, reconnected to Strava, re-starred a few segments in Strava. After a few minutes, they showed in SA. An extra sync and they now show on the watch. I am not saying that all these steps are required, but that after all these steps it started to work.
@Vylli it is worth the try. Most of the configuration is kept in the watch (usually, we complain about it), so there is not that much you need to do after the reinstallation. Of course, you need to pair the watch again and set up notifications. -
At long last, I managed to put in an activity with the Strava segments on. I use S9B. You have to remember to include it as a “Guide” every time you start a new activity. The first time I tried, the watch crashed completely (rebooted). Fortunately, it happened almost immediately, so I lost some 300 m of the ride. Interestingly, not all my “starred segments” came across. When riding, the watch reminds you that there is a Strava segment nearby and gives you a distance count (metres, in my case). When you enter the segment, the watch displays 3 fields: your delta to the PR (I assume), distance to the end, and your time. I am not sure if you have to switch to the extra page (watch face) to see those or if it would come automatically. On the first segment i intentionally scrolled to the end to see it and it worked.
I was planning to check if it would come on its own, but the next segment never popped up. Unfortunately, the numbers are smallish (the same size as if it was a 5 field face, but there are only three fields). I did not notice any indication that the segment started and or finished. I wish there was a noticeable sound signal indicating the start and end of the segment. If you ride and keep the watch on your arm, you will have a hard time seeing the data. I like the idea, but it is a bit hit and miss, for the time being. -

It works for me….
Don’t forget to have a Strava premium account.

@Mi_chael see my reply a few entries above. I managed to get it going, eventually. And yes, I knew that you have to have the premium account with Strava.
