A few suggestions on software
-
Hello to all
Having used the Vertical now for some times I have a few thoughts regarding the new watch.
In random order (having several suunto watches and a recently a Garmin)
- it would be nice for the daily step goal to be dynamic. If everyday you beat the goal it increases and if not it decreases accordingly. That is a rolling goal.
- for interval runs it would be nice to have audible notifications, a 5 sec countdown before each set. Also the screen before each set should have larger text. Instead of ‘next 400m’ in the smallest possible font it should be in large text. for example set 3/9 so you know how far into the workout you are, and display the goal in bold eg. Run 400m, or Rest for 1min.
- fitness age… I’m 46 and my fitness age is 29. I’m flattered but it can’t be true. I am overall fit but at this period of time I’m at my lowest in fitness levels. I’m sure there is an error somewhere.
- as in all my previous suunto watches I get heart rate spikes at the start of my runs. I have tried everything and will keep it to that.
A more general comment, not so impressed with the battery (not very scientific I know) but the impression is that I charge it as often as I used to charge the 9. Maybe a couple days extra on the vertical
Overall I prefer it over any current watch in the market.

@nassoscal isn’t audio notifications throw SA available for SV?
Regarding fitness age, i agree, it doesn’t make sense… I have read somewhere, that Suunto could move away from Firstbeat metrics in the future. This movement could be a really good movement to get new/reimplemented metrics “easily”.
Let’s see if it comes!!! -

I am 55 and my fitness age is 20. That’s the main reason, i’ve swtiched back from Garmin (where i’m 49) to Suunto!
Just kidding. I totally agree. The function makes no sense like it is at the moment.

@runomatic Sigh, I am 53 but Suunto gods are telling me my fitness age is 79. I am tempted to believe this judgement and use it as a motivational push

@nassoscal regarding fitness age.
this is based on the Firstbeat algorithm described here:
