Cannot download offline maps on Suunto Vetical Ti
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos Hotspot with another cell worked! Thank you!!! I have been able to download Liechstenstein first (7Mo or so) and then the place around my town (70 Mo or so). Thanks. It must be either my rooter or service provider…

@spiritofgruyere If you have special characters in your wifi name that can be problematic as well (reported bug to Suunto). Except if you were able to connect but not download then just ignore what I said Njoy the awesomeness of your new watch!
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos this worked!
-
@Hristijan-Petreski I did not have special characters and even removed upper case. Thanks for the advice but seems to be related to my rooter.
-
@spiritofgruyere Thankfully it’s not often that we download maps

I added few new paths in OSM this week-end : they are already seeable in SA . How will this updates reach the watch offline map?
-
@Mff73 next step : editing OSM data directly from SA \o/
Imagine, you could add new trails directly from your perfect SV gpx track. That would be a killer feature (for power users, sure). -
I must have the biggest map of all the suunto maps the map of Queensland Australia I think it was 1.98gb, I had my watch downloading for at least 2 hours last night and now 3 tonight’s and it’s only half way !!! Going to take at least 10 hours to download this map. My concern is that because the watch has to be on charger the whole time my watch is constantly at 100% on charger for many hours. I hope this is not causing damage to battery
-
@gone-troppo you can leave the watch on the charger as long as you want.
It this could cause any damage, the developers would have prevented you from doing so. -
Yeh thanks mate I realise that but I’m pretty sure lithium batteries it’s not the best idea to do that. Pretty sure I read in various places better to have it between 25-75% where possible? Anyway once it’s downloaded only have to do it once. I’m just over half way and 9 hours so far hahaha
-
@gone-troppo
my phone has managed charging when the alarm clock is activated. faster charge at first, slower later.
I don’t think that our new Verticals see the full current until we remove it from the charger -
Hey mate sorry I don’t understand what you are saying here
-
@gone-troppo Once the watch reaches I believe 90 or 95% charge it slows down charging. When left on the charger to download maps the watch will trickle charge. There are safeguards built in to preserve the battery. This was discussed extensively during testing and the field testers were informed that this issue is dealt with in the watch.
So leaving the watch on the charger for many hours to download maps will not affect the battery life. -
Great to hear mate, this watch is incredible
-
@gone-troppo that’s pretty long time. Did it work eventually? I downloaded 700 megabytes in less than two hours yesterday.
-
I’ve filled mine with almost 32gb of maps… just for the hell of it …took me roughly 24h, but can’t tell exactly
-
Hey mate I’m at about 95% nearly there yewwww this has been about 3 hours a day for last 3 days will be finished today when I get back from my trail run.
If you have a look at the suunto maps qld Australia is about the biggest one they have, our internet here is most likely prehistoric compared to what you all have over in Europe. I don’t know anything about internet speeds but I’m sure Australia is behind Europe at least where I am
-
@gone-troppo
don’t worry, it works the same with highspeed and lowspeed connection.
I’ve got a mobile wifi on 4g and works the same way with my phones 5g hotspot -
hi there!
My Vertical is connected to WLAN and charging but after few minutes I get this message (download offline maps is interrupted). Do you know why?
I planned to do a trekk from Friday to sunday… will be nice to have my map
