speculations and rumours about upcoming Suunto watches
-
Anyone?
-
-
@freeheeler Good one
-
No one seems to talk about battery life of new watch. Hopefully battery lasts atleast as long as in S9PP. Better resolution screen and maps would be awesome. Is there new HR sensor? How about barometer? Is it similar to S9PP? So many questions and no answers, yet.
Also Iām waiting if there is something intresting coming to S9PP with FW update. After all it has new UI.
-
@Jugger Given that the new watch will be larger than S9PP, it does make sense that the battery life is going to be equal or better. On the other hand, the original Ambit3 Vertical had shorter battery life compared to Ambit3 Peakā¦ So thereās that
-
@Jugger Iāve done some rough estimates of the battery life somewhere above. It was something like 30h with multiband and 50h with all-sat gps. Reasonable I think.
Probably itāll be either the same hr sensor as in s9pp but tuned to this new watch or the newer sensor.
Barometer - isnāt the one in s9b/s9p/s9pp already quite good? Itād be interesting to see, where they put the hole tho.
It seems like the new watch comes with a new watchface and there were some rumours about the weather - I guess both should come to s9pp at some point. A more interesting question is that whether suunto will make their play on widgets with the reveal of this watch or whether theyāll come in some forseeable future (by widgets I essentially mean more customizability of the watchface). -
@DMytro Battery life seems ok then. About barometer I ment that S9PP can also measure under water. I think itās also in new watch.
Weather watchface would be nice. I miss baro watchface from S9B. If there would be possibility to sync outside temperature to it, it would be perfect.
-
I just hope that new watch has all the capabilities of S9PP and more, not missing something out. Not counting weight/size, that is more personal preferenceā¦
-
Canāt wait to have a look at the new Suunto.
-
@Likarnik what I could imagine might be missing is snorkeling ready baro sensor and ambient light sensor.
-
I expect new OHR, so HRV can be measuredā¦ hopefully
-
@suzzlo canāt hrv be measured already?
-
@DMytro according to a blog article about the sleep tracking itās measured and taken into account for the sleep quality score. But we have no values over the whole day or at least while in activity, which if you use certain partners is really a pitty
-
@Andi-Buzer I mean, according to some old surveys we should eventually get it in suunto coach tab. Maybe in the next updates. Like nightly hrv or smth.
-
Dreaming of a ābareā Suunto without internal OHR, sleeptracking, resourcesā¦ But of course with Suuntos advanced accurate outside features (fusedalti, accurate distance ā¦). I am aware that I am pretty alone with this, because everybody wants wellness features. I always use external HR and know how to train and to pauseā¦ training peaks app plugin is usefulā¦
-
@Andi-Buzer But does it make sense to measure hrv with ohr during the day and sport activities? Are hrv measurements reliable? I understood it makes sense to measure hrv during night when you sleep still for recovery assessment.

@suuntastic said in speculations and rumours about upcoming Suunto watches:

The ambit 3 peak?
-
@AndrĆ©-Faria Yes, but I think S9P (which I use and enjoy very much) is more precise (distance, fusedalti) and has more recording time (battery), is lighter, less bulkyā¦ Isnāt it? Think also navigation is litte bit better now. But I do not have experience with A3Pā¦ just guessing
-
@AndrƩ-Faria Yes, if they have not decided to get rid of the wireless sync
-
@dulko79 I donāt know if the lifeq sensor is reliable enough, but I know that some Garmin watches offer it and that their values seem to be plausible. So I guess it depends on the sensor.
