Software update 2.23.20 (All S watches except S9 Peak Pro)
-
Since the update of my S9peak I noticed that the battery lasts longer. Before the update I had to charge every 4 to 5 days in average (usually from 10 to 95%), with about 13 hours of weekly GPS performance usage (but with display time out), 24/7 HR tracking and all notifications. Now, after the update the battery lasts about 6 days with the same behavior.
I suppose that the update caused a needed battery calibration. Or are there also some general improvements in energy consumption? -
@wotus Perhaps the improved Raise-to-wake algorithm that does not trigger the backlight that often in case of the random arm shakes and motions?
-
@inkognito Possibly you are right, but I have set Raise-to-wake only for exercise and mostly I use display time out.
-
@inkognito i started using rise to wake (just because we donāt have toggle mode anymore) and i noticed it does lights up during driving a car.

Yes itās normal, the feature is called rise to wake, and when you drive you rise your hands it wakes up.
If you donāt like it you can request a new feature: while driving rise to not wake

or activate: do not disturb, while Iām driving -

or activate: do not disturb, while Iām drivingI like how well integrated the DND is, when in a theater or at home watching a movie in the evening and DND is selected there is no temptation to look at the watch as you cannot see the screen. This is a good example of IMHO how Suunto does a good job of thinking how users will need a feature and implementing the feature. A much less sophisticated option would be to simply turn off notifications but have a blazing watch face light up in a theater when you move your hand from the popcorn to your mouthā¦.

@Brad_Olwin
fully agree. Suunto takes feedback and thinks beyond before pushing it to the market. I really appreciate that! -
Was there any changes in steps counting?
I have noticed that for same distance it calculates cca 1000 steps lessā¦ā¦ -
@Djordje-S I had problems in step counting wearing the S9P in left wrist when walking with last firmware, always 10-15% less steps than wearing in right wrist.
I think the problem is still there.

@freeheeler ok thanks. (have edited my postā¦was thinking āsoftā but wrote "hard) :
EDIT : soft reset worked, no more issue.
After few days : just after I do a soft reset, it worksā¦and then it doesnātā¦
So, still have issue : canāt use Suunto apps
Any idea ? ( I certainly wonāt make a hard reset ; prefer not using Suunto apps than loosing all setting and personal sports modes ! ) -
@Tieutieu
the apps you want are bookmarked in myapps and pinned to watch? you sync and donāt see it/them in your activity start screen?
I would try logout and in again from Suunto App as a next step -

I would try logout and in again from Suunto App as a next stepTried almost everything including your call.
Just after the resets I can select the appsā¦but few times after I canāt anymore. I see them in the options of the watch, but when I choses my app and then press the middle button to select, it goes back to the option screen with Ā«Ā no appĀ Ā» display instead of displaying app nameā¦
Will wait for the next update to be fixed I hope -
@Tieutieu
waiting for the next update might take some time and I havenāt heard of S+ apps stop working.
I recommend to send logs, Iāve pm you about it. -

@Tieutieu Same for me on my S9 peakā¦is it solve?

I have seen comments relating same bug but with other apps.
I have send logs to suunto (thanks @freeheeler for help ) -

Hi
Since the update I have noticed in my S9 Peak:- Much higher speed & responsiveness, not only starting an exercise but also in general usage of the watch
- Raise to wake much more useful and sensitive.
- Better filtering of steps in daily usage + more accurate results during walk only activities. Previously I had too low steps measures while walking (for example 5 km walking but only 4000 steps). Still a little bit lower than my Galaxy Watch 5 but I think now it is pretty close to reality
- Battery lasts longer. I guess around 20%-25%, especially when using 24/7 monitoring
- When using Wrist HR, sometimes the watch got lost for a long time, especially if not fitted 3-4 cm over the wrist bone (in my case) showing very low HR figures. Now, if it get lost, figures are higher and the time ālostā is shorter.
Some users said improvements in Autolight but for me it seems to be the same. Only that now Raise to wake is much more effectiveā¦What kind of improvement are you experimenting?
Very happy with the update. My only desires, bold fonts & increase readability + improvement in the navigation turn by turn with icons as in S9 PP and that will be close to perfection!

@isazi Some news about S+ STRYD app?
