Suunto 9 Peak Pro?
-
Does the Suunto 9 Peak Pro have issues with STRYD dropouts like the Suunto 9 Baro? I’ve noticed a lot of dropouts in the STRYD app when using my Suunto 9. I looked up the problem and discovered this is a known problem with Suunto devices. Wondering if the 9 Peak Pro has the same problem.

The S9B says with the best GPS enabled the battery life is 25 hours, however because I don’t have HR enabled this bumps it up nicely to 33 hours
Do you know if the same applies to the S9PP in the sense that the advertised 40 hours is with HR on? If that’s toggled off and some tweaks are made does that get the watch closer to 50 hours off a full charge? Also, do you have the ability to create custom battery profiles like you can with the S9B?
-
@TyreseJ4 Didn’t tried yet as I wanted to test first wrist power from suunto (which by the way seems to be quite consistent with Stryd).
But on Stryd app, wrist power from Suunto does still show some dropouts so I guess problem is not solved
-
@MiniForklift so for old devices that would old true, the OHR module was so energy inefficient that using bluetooth increases battery life. With modern hardware there is less difference, and I constantly have an estimated battery life (measured after activity) for the S9PP with OHR of ~50 hours. Of course Suunto guarantees 40 so if you get 40 and not 50 they don’t replace your watch
-
@TyreseJ4 did several runs now with Stryd connected to the S9PP and had no dropouts so far.

Can S9PP be used with Suunto HR belt and not worn during sport activity, like basketball or football? The activity is started with watch, stored in HR belt during activity and later transferred to watch.

Yes, works just fine.

Hello! I switched from 9P to 9PP. I am confused by the loudness of the vibration sound. Vibration sound of 9P was very low, almost silent. 9PP has clearly louder sound. Is this normal or not?
-
@laismaniko it is
-
@laismaniko Normal. I really really like the louder vibration for running. Sitting around in a quiet room and getting a text alert? Not so much. But for running, especially if there is ambient noise around like traffic etc, and listening to music, the vibration is perfect to be noticed and not missed. Just me.
-
Thanks for the replies @mikekoski490 and @krakra ! I’m disappointed that the loud vibration is normal and not a fault. I get lot of notifications and loud and rattle vibration noise drives me crazy. It would be great if you could adjust the vibration level yourself. I decided to return 9PP because of the loud vibration and go back to 9P.
-
@laismaniko yes! You are right! Some of use feel this way too! Had to switch it off. Was already discussed. Sounds very trashy. Not premium. People around me made jokes. Vibration has to be strong, not noisy rattling… early this year I had a 945lte for 20 days with dream vibrations. Quiet but strong. For acoustic sound there should be the beep, not vibration.
945lte had also dream OHR, also during hiking for me. The rest I like Suunto way more!
These 2 things frustrated me with S9PP. So I sent it back. Anyhow it is a great watch. But I keep using S9B… will try Coros Apex 2 Pro soon, just curious… only a try. Will probably stick with S9B…
Other things: sleep gaps, resources still buggy for me…
-
@mountainChris what do you mean with buggy resources?
-
@dulko79 body battery, but not so important to me
-
@mountainChris I understand it is body battery. What does not work for you?
-
@dulko79 after a view days always low. Resting HR correct. Garmin gave me way more realistic values… but I think SW update already announced. Not so important for me.

Got this screen before my workout today, there were two phantom sports with no names.
Yesterday I modified one of my custom sport modes. This is no longer there, will report in case it reproduces again.
-

Thank you. Already known at Suunto.

I was curious how many satellites were actually seen by the S9PP, how it differs from the S9P and how it impacts satellites reception.
Here are screenshots from QuantifiedSelf (with a specific export from the app) from 2 runs made 1 week apart on the same route.
This is by no mean a serious comparison, but it still gives some information.
