I’ve noticed that only 3 guides can be pinned to the watch. Is there a way to increase this number? E.g. if I delete a couple of routes or make pinned guides shorter. How is the memory consolidated for different types of data in the watch?
-
@dmytro not sure, it can also be guides dependent because different guides can use a different amount of storage.
-
@isazi I see, thank you. @Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos, could you maybe shed some light on this?
-
@dmytro Why are you pinning these? I do not pin any workouts as they are different for different days. Quite a few workouts are available in the watch. Currently I have 10 workouts available in the watch.
-
@brad_olwin I can only pin three 0_o. Well, I’m trying to get back into running after long time struggling with shin splints. That’s why I don’t have a fixed schedule just 4 easy run-walk workouts that I prefer to execute not via a strict plan, but depending on how my legs feel
-
@dmytro What platform are you using to parse the Guides to Suunto?
-
@dmytro if you have only 4 guides, you do not need to pin them. They should all be available on your watch.

Exactly what I am trying to get across here.

@isazi can help you out better here, but you do not need to pin workouts to have them available. I use TrainingPeaks, have no workouts pinned and have 10 workouts available in the watch. three of these are identical strength workouts on different days.
-
@isazi oh, so these workouts won’t disappear until I add more? How come I can’t pin them then? E.g. if I can load up to 10 workouts on the watch, why can’t I also pin these 10?
-
@dmytro I think because “pinning” them forces the watch to never delete them if new workouts are available, and given the little amount of memory current watches have it may result in users not being able to get new workouts on their watches because they abuse the pin function.
-
@brad_olwin I just checked - my fourth workout and a couple more are all in the watch. I was just wondering if they will stay there or disappear after some time, considering I don’t add new workouts.

Why do you need to pin them??? When you pin a workout it is in the watch permanently until you unpin. It is much easier to simply duplicate them in intervals.icu for the days you want them duplicated. Once the date has passed for the workout, it will be removed whether or not you use it.

If the workouts have no date they will not disappear from the watch until you add more. If they have a date, they may disappear.
-
@isazi okay I see, I think one may want to clarify this in the guides menu.
Like don’t restrict pinning to only 3 workouts, but of say, all the place is taken, display a warning that new workouts aren’t syncing anymore. -
@dmytro I think many users do not understand what pinning a workout is. I agree that this could be made clearer.
-
@dmytro You were double teamed today:). Hope we helped.
-
@isazi do you mind explaining how one can create a workout on intervals.icu without a date. Until now I’ve been adding them to my training plan, which is with dates only.
-
@brad_olwin yep, thank you both!
