Suunto 9 Baro - Elevation profile issue
-
Your elevation profiles have rather small elevation changes.
First guess: Temparature has an influence on this - are you and your friend wearing your watches in the same way? Like under or on top of clothes etc? -
@egika Thanks for your reply. We are wearing the watch in the same way, in top of clothes.
My last run this morning: I run 7km on a road then return by the same road.
My watch:

Friend’s watch:

Maybe the barometer is broken

-
@cédric-dodrimont if the watch is still under warranty, contact support, they can take your watch and check.
Also, search the forum for the “fridge test”.
-
@cédric-dodrimont I’d say the problem with the barometer is more likely your friend.
-
@isazi Thanks, unfortunately the watch is no longer under warranty.
I’ve done a fridge test, but I don’t know what to conclude (The fridge has been opened after 3 hours):

-
@cédric-dodrimont
just to be sure: did you manually adjust altitude before your activity? -
@cédric-dodrimont yours is a Suunto9 non-baro model? The altitude will depend on GPS so try the best satellite system. However, you will not get the accuracy of a model with a barometer.
-
@brad_olwin He’s got an S9 Baro. According to the temperature graph

Afair the temp sensor is not the barometer.
-
@sartoric Does the S9 non-baro has a temperature sensor?
-
@pavlas
Well, that’s a good question

Hidden in plain sight
So the 9 has no temp sensor ? I didn’t expect it

-
@sartoric yeah, temp sensor is technically needed to compensate temperature drift of the baro sensor. So it is kind of integrated into the baro sensor.
-
@freeheeler For this one maybe I adjusted the altitude manually. I will try to do a new activity end of the day without adjusting it.
It’s a baro watch, when I look at my activities, it seems issues started the 4th of January. Before this date everything was fine.
-
@sartoric it’s proximity to the skin makes sensor useless for any other purpose.
-
@dmytro Except when swimming

@cédric-dodrimont true dat
