Suunto's newest watch is the 5 Peak
-
Thanks for sharing your feedback.
I saw on the video (and asked to confirm) and the S5p still continues to be slow on some menus.
At the time I had the FR45/245/F6SS and they were all much more imediate than the S9P.
It was already explained here the motive (stability), but on my side, I think it degrades a bit the experience.
But one thing is for sure…the design and confort of S9P and I beliee the S5P is amazing.
If the new algo proves to be reliable for non baro devices, I think it can lead to good sales. Hope so!Again - I don’t find it that big of a difference. Made a quick video comparing FR 245 and S5P. The S5P is a bit slower, but nothing that I would consider to be too slow.

Thinking of getting one. Does anyone know for sure, if SA does supports a second watch in following way: Is recovery and body battery synced back on watch? Or do these show different things on each watch? That means does body battery show the values which are generated with the other watch and is recovery summed up (S9P mountain running, S5P flat running)?
-
@mountainchris afaik nothing gets synced back to the watch (hopefully this will be implemented someday, which would allow to use SA as a hub for multiple watches).
But resources are ± adaptive: i.e. if you had 30% on one watch, wearing the other one for a bit will show you the same value.
I don’t own two watches, just judging from what others said in the forum. -
@dmytro ok thanks and recovery is not summed up? Each watch shows only the recovery status of activities which were made with each watch?
With body battery you will see probably jumps in SA after changing watch in the beginning…
I would appreciate, if SA App becomes a Hub for different Suunto watches…
-
@mountainchris it’s summed up only in the app. If you want to test, record an activity with SA itself and you’ll see, how exactly the metrics will add up in the app, but not in the watch.
-
@dmytro Can’t find in SA no sum recovery status right now, right? Never saw this in App, only watch. SA shows only recovery time of each activity…
Maybe in future Then maybe I’m getting a S5P
Of course additionally there is training peaks as second metric where I would expect everything is summed up…
-
@mountainchris ah, that’s true! I forgot because I never pay attention to recovery time, more to Form and my own feelings.

The data will not sync from one watch to the app and back to the second watch. However, if you switch watches, Recovery will be recorded in the app so there are no gaps, same for HR, etc. I have found recovery between watches to be fairly consistent. Back before the S9P, S7 came out I would wear an S3 for sleep as the baro was just too big. Now the Peak is perfect.
Since recovery time is not recorded to the app I doubt this will sync between watches. Just making sure you know, but I find switching watches not that big a deal. -
Well since the begining that the S5P caught my eye.
I said to myself that when I could get one at about 170-180eur I would buy it, today was the day
Curious to see how it goes, specially compared to the S9P, and how suunto evolved.
Let’s see. -
I was a bit afraid that on live the watch didn’t had quite the same colors.
But all fine, it is a stunner!
Will be testing it and give my feedback. -
@andré-faria It is a highly capable watch. Where I live, with large hills the GPS altitude did a great job. With smaller rolling hills it is less accurate. Battery life is fantastic and it is so light, you do not know it is there!
