This is my second belt in 3 years, I guess I should by a new one again
2 belts in 3 years is actually not that bad, I gave up on Suunto Smart Sensor when I had gone through 2 belts in a year, though those were old belts, I’ve never tried the new design.
And it’s not always the belt/sensor, some synthetic baselayers can hold & generate lot of statics that will also mess up HR readings. Smart Sensor may have been more sensitive to that kind of interference when compared to Suunto ANT belt or something like Polar H10, but from time to time all chest straps pick up some noise.
I’m currently close to ending 2nd year with my first H10 starp and it’s still fairly stable. Which I find quite impressive considering how many washing cycles and training + commuting hours it has survived by now. But errors are becoming somewhat more frequent, so it will be replaced soon.
BTW, runalyze.com provides some HRV analysis tools, including similar RR(IBI) vs time plot, and they also support history import from Suunto App. So if you want to check the quality of HR recordings from your previous activities, Runalyze can be quite handy.
