    @egika I think it was requested several times… e.g.: https://forum.suunto.com/topic/5670/turn-off-wrist-hr-on-s9/10?_=1643733853547 https://forum.suunto.com/topic/5670/turn-off-wrist-hr-on-s9/9?_=1643734440696

    @wakarimasen the s9p has carrousel with great readability. In my case I use one screen with 7 data fields for average and data I don’t need in the moment, and I use the four data field screen and carrousel combo and works good for me.

    @isazi yes, watch instead of checking what data are received from what sensor, watch just check what pod is paired… so even bigger limitation than just one type of device.

    @margusl Found it easy, no real issues. Figuring out the training and how it works was a bit more complex, but so much more powerful than training peaks, and was fairly easy after watching a couple of good youtube videos and reading Garmins support pages. Watch transition was pretty easy: weight - have the F6xPS so weight is only 10g more, so not too bad adjusting, plus pretty much same size as S7. Screen - while not as brilliant and as wow, the F6 is pretty awesome when its in a bit of light (and gets better the brighter it is), otherwise you can use the backlight to provide enough light to see, however can also set backlight to be activated by wrist tilt. So no impact from that side (colours are just slightly more muted). Touch - no issues other than when using maps, but am used to it now - though buttons are clunky compared to using touch to pan around and zoom into maps (serious case for F6 to have a touch screen just for map usage). But as normally using routes/TBT directions, seldom need to pan/zoom in, so really isn’t an issue. SetUp - that was painful figuratively and physically - no option like suunto to use phone app to set up screens etc, and as all the heavy lifting is done by the watch virtually everything has to be set up on the watch, and there is sooo much more to customize, so there are lot and I do mean a lot, lot, lot of button presses to set up customized data screens and fields for walking, running, cycling, pool swimming, SUP, hiking, strength training, cardio, yoga, and open water swimming - but its pretty much a one off. Occasionally I tweak them (huge advantage here as you can tweak while tracking so can quickly add/remove/edit screens, change screen layout, add/remove/edit data fields). Watch faces - more limited that what wear os provides, but it does have enough customization to give you what you want, and if not there is the IQ connect store which has quite a few options, and failing that there are SDK so you can build/create your own. IQ5 - which I believe they have just stated the F6 will be able to use will allow more of the firstbeat metrics to be included as complications. The only pity I do miss is being able to press on a complication to launch that complication, however a button press makes it easy to pick up the widgets list (can customize what on and where on list - can go from top or bottom of list depending which button you press) which provide a first glance which you can then drill down into, thus far more quicker to get that sort of detail i.e. stress - can have it as a sperate widget or as part of the health stats widget. First glance shows stress, current level and its status i.e. 48 & low (and its always active so can change as you are looking at it). Going into widget screen 1 shows current level and 4hr graph, next page = overall avg with breakdown of duration for rest, low, med, high; next page = 7 day graph of avg stress, plus provides avg of that 7 day. Pressing the start button on any of these screens can provide additional info/actions - in this case pressing it will suggest a breathwork exercise with you can action to lower your stress. You will also get a stress reminder if you stress remains very high for a long period. There are hotkeys which you can customize to launch a variety of functions like the control wheel for apps, lock/unlock buttons (or can use autolock), alarms, countdowns etc etc. There are about 7 customizable settings. this I find works better than GA and makes up for not being able to use watch face complications to launch app.

    @synner88 I think heatmap is more realistic. It doesn’t use much memory space. My idea is that when syncing a route, suunto app merges that route with heatmap around it, then send the merged route to a watch. On a watch-side, heatmap can be shown in light-gray color and doesn’t affect a route navigation. With this, we can navigate planned route in comparison with heatmap. If this can be implemented, I believe that Suunto watches can beat any other watches with topo map.

    @tonyg said in Handheld gps: @andré-faria Hi, In my work I use GPSMAP 25000 scale mapping and even on those handheld gps devices I find it difficult to use, especially where all your given is a grid ref to find. I enter the grid ref and have it as a waypoint but when you need to scroll around the map you really find it limitations (for me at least). I tend to use lithium AA Batteries and so far they are lasting much better in colder weather as opposed to alkaline batteries, but they still do suffer in the cold, and spare batteries are always in the bag. I always take the paper map 25000 scale so you can work out a route to get to the waypoint, I do like using paper and gpsmap together and can use either on its own to get to where I need to get too but having anything less than Ordinance Survey 25000 scale maps would make my job a lot harder. I must point out this is for work, and leisure use may differ and basic topo maps may do for folk. I guess having maps on a watch would be ok but personally if I needed maps then I would probably prefer to use my GPSMAP combined with paper maps. Phones: I occasionally will reference the satelite view if I have a signal but yeah in the cold battery suffers and Id rather keep the phone in the pocket incase I need to use the voice phone, we use SpotGenx for emergency contact. apologies for the long waffling reply Thanks for elaborated answer. Yeah I feel the same regarding phone, to save it in case of need. @bulkan said in Handheld gps: @andré-faria I use a twonav trail 2 and an Etrex. I really like these devices, for me is a hobby. When I go for a hike I like to bring the big gps, the only gps watch with routable maps are the Garmin but the lack of touchscreen is not good in my experience. So I go with an s7 and a big GPS and map. My partner sometimes complains but when we are in the middle of a route and change it due to climate o we have more time these gps are the best option. [image: 1632078817337-img_5199.jpeg] [image: 1632078829457-img_8548.jpeg] Hehe I also had an etrex 30x (big learning curve to be able to deal with it, and a bit of slow!), and got now a gpsmap. The button layout+POIs+ AA batteries make it a good ally for bikepacking adventures (on the edge series, the 530 has buttons but doesn’t have POIs). Finally solved the “issue” of having an adapter for gpsmap/etrex to garmin edge mount with this adapter. Enjoy the trails guys

    @embrun said in Choisir une montre femme: Bonjour, J’ai une montre “Suunto 7”, je suis entièrement satisfait de cette montre, j’aime beaucoup cette montre. Je voudrais offrir une montre “Suunto” à ma femme, mais il faudrait que je trouve un modèle plus petit, car elle trouve que lama montre est trop grande. Pas besoins de la cartographie. Si vous avez une idée ? Merci de votre aide Cordialement. Suunto 9 Peak sans hesitation.

    @bulkan My 24mm strap microfibre ring fell apart after 3 months of use, specifically after training in rain. Velcro is still my fave for 24mm even though disappeared from Canadian website shop a while ago.

    @sartoric said in Forget/find phone: @hyungardio-leviossa afair bluetooth smart doesn’t keep the connection always active. So it could be misleading The way it’s implemented by other brands makes it reliable enough to be useful, though depends on expectations and habbits - I personally don’t use phone alerts (notifications on every connect / disconnect ) as I tend to move around a lot without picking up my phone and all that buzzing would be too annoying; but I do use both find my phone & find my watch frequently enough ( like every other time I’m packing in a hurry and am about to empty 2-3 bags to find the missing piece … ) to miss those if taken away. BTW, BT(LE) working range is usually more than people would expect, especially if one node happens to be a phone, my Jabbra headset starts to clip once it’s more than 30m from the source (semi-open office /shop floor) and when I need to do offline sync from Stryd, phone is usually at least 10m from the sensor ( log constuctions bteween)
