@Artem-Lavrynenko - unfortunately I don’t work for Suunto so can’t tell you if they would or wouldn’t - but I suspect wouldn’t - as not enough demand. Note that my suggestion on how to run it via manual lap times will work in this regard. if you were previously late, or for some reason the gun is early (shortened sequence etc) - then press manual lap ASAP post gun. You can then see the lap timer from your current manual lap and base the start gun off that. i.e. you started at 15min gun. 5min gun comes 11 mins after start gun, so you instead of leaving start running you press manual lap, this starts a duration count from 0. So you now have total duration running in background, and a manual point at 11mins. When the start gun goes 5 minutes later - you can see that from the manual lap point, you cross start and press manual lap. Your total duration will show 16mins, have a manual lap(ML) start at 11mins and at 16mins. You can then press ML at end of race, at end of each leg etc depending on what you want to time and record. When you view the ML points later on the map you will be able to see and confirm what each point was, asssuming you can’t remember. Am assuming your suunto/watch can do this? I know the S7 can as do this for some of fitness activities (unfortunately do not sail anymore). Not ideal but very workable and sort of how we used to do this with the old casio watches which only had start, stop and split. Crew had to keep a note of the timings on a whiteboard.which we would later transcribe into notepad along with map of sailing area and try and work out track onto map with notes and comments around wind and wave conditions and the impact on the sides of the courses. Always very useful when next sailing in same place and weather conditions are similar as could review what worked, where expected bends, holes etc were and then test them out prior to the race (we were usually out 1-1.5hrs before a race checking and testing potential course). Also useful to note if wind conditions changed and a similar shift occurred in a later race. Helped me a couple of times from being caught on wrong side of the course. Would be soooo much easier now with current tech to do similar.

@pavel-samokha while it says its the same model co-processor they have made significant improvements to it, and now call it an Enhanced QC1110 compared to QC1110. There was a table that I came across somewhere on the qualcomm site that explained the differences in detail. This link is to a similar table to the qualcomm one: https://www.droid-life.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Wear-4100-Specs.jpg notice that while the core hasn’t changed they have improved the memory, dsp and see enabling the co-processor to run more colours in ambient mode, and to enable it better manage steps, cHRM, alarms, haptic and tilt to wake in the background --> this all screams to me of the watch being able to acheive serious battery life while in ambient mode and providing 24/7 HRM, sleep tracking etc in the background with minimal impact to battery life. Hoping that if manufacturers properly use the co-processor (and if wear os also designed to use it) we might get a true smartwatch with similar battery life (in smartwatch mode) as to fitness watches. Biggest concern re this is around notifications - as suspect this wakes the watch…

It is great that, also including a partner like “ten percent” app could be awesome to track the meditation progress and mindfulness!

Actually for me, S9 GPS is already very accurate. At its current firmware, the gps accuracy is very good to excellent. the OHR though is…ahem… Battery is acceptable for me. Anyway, perfect watch for me is suunto hardware & polar metrics. (V2 accuracy btw is also surprisingly very good…far cry from original V)

@MrCUBS yes, I have noticed that on the rare occasion that I have to open turn instead of flip it will always detect it, but if I have a very streamlined flip, it cannot always determine what happened.

This does not look like a Suunto App request. Which watch are you referring to? I will move the topic.

@ldxmsg Not for the S9 I am afraid. You can set tone, tone & vibration, vibration, and both off. But no vibration intensity. https://www.suunto.com/en-be/Support/Product-support/suunto_9/suunto_9/features/tones-and-vibration/

@aroo7 said in New watches: @Egika What’s wrong with asking questions? Just like @dennisdemennis said there are a lot of people who have spartan watches I don’t see any question in the post I answered to. Absolutely nothing wrong with that. People with Spartan watches can coninue using them. Or they can sell them/put them into the drawer collection and get a new watch. If you now get an S5/9 etc. as replacement, you know what you get. It will not become useless or degraded if there was a new hardware at the doorstep. That’s why I could not follow the OP.

@sky-runner said in Why anyone would buy a Suunto at the moment? Or ever.: @Brad_Olwin said in Why anyone would buy a Suunto at the moment? Or ever.: The S9b is built for trail and ultra running! I have used mine for many races and countless trail runs. Without HR you will get 35+ h of battery life, close to your 40. In Endurance mode, where little is sacrificed you will get 50h with HR. Using a belt will get ~34h in Performance and 50h in Endurance mode. I would never use an extended (Endurance or Ultra) battery mode in a race or in a long self-supported run. I don’t trust its reliability. I had serious issues when I tried to use Good/5-sec battery mode on A3P in a 100 miler in the past, which led to tons of frustration during the race, and I’d never ever repeat that mistake again. And I need more accurate distance during a race to estimate splits, remaining distance to aid stations, etc. Also Strava really dislikes FIT files produced by Endurance and Ultra modes. Well, I have used both 5 sec fix on A3P for 100 mile races (actually 120 miles too) and the S9b on Endurance mode for self-supported and races (100miles). I have no issues or frustrations. I don’t really care that much about Strava and if you change to Race there are no issues. I always laminate or on my phone carry aid station splits for several finish times. For the races and events I do, it is impossible to estimate instant pace or use instant pace. The average pace and average between aid stations is useful and Endurance mode is fine for that. And now that there are watches that deliver 60 hours in the best GPS mode, I think there is little reason to compromise by using Suunto’s extended battery modes. I typically use Navigation so those estimates are best case scenarios. What is real battery life? How is Navigation dealt with on other brands? Suunto switches to 1s fix only while on Nav screen. With FusedTrack and my standard Navigation uses I can get 50h on Endurance mode, which is great. The tracks are nearly as good as 1s fix. I don’t need perfection. Routes on SA are super and can be loaded to the watch offline while exercising. Great when I bail off trail and have bailout routes on the phone

@Catoer-Wibowo Also, and believe me I don’t want to add fuel to the fire, just to add value to the conversation. As the obvious reference is to the fenix6, it seems to have a lot of problems. I don’t own it but I follow the Run4IQ facebook forums because I’m a sports watch enthusiast in general and the oximeter is working really bad. (if you want some links that talk about it, I can provide it) Let’s leave doing medical devices, to medical devices

Wahoo ELEMNT Bolt for a few years. Strava live segments are implemented well and ride with gps turn by turn instructions is really helpful though its a pain that Strava courses don’t also have this… works with Varia radar as well and is a really intuitive interface. very easy to send a route from phone app to the unit wirelessly out mid ride etc which makes it much easier to work with than Garmin headunits from what I have heard. Wahoo support is responsive and good; they clearly care about their customers and want to provide good service.

@tomahawk5000 that looks a lot like a track using fused track. Segments are very square in nature, and there aren’t any of the typical back and forth squiggles (technical term ).

@Bulkan When a new flagship watch comes, I agree it will have new hardware. I was surprised with the S9 as Suunto was a year ahead of others incorporating the Sony GPS chip. I suspect watch development and testing was 9 months to a year prior to that.
